~Guys, guess what?? I bought Civil War over the weekend (it was kind of a birthday present). I'M SO HAPPY! I LOVE THAT MOVIE SO MUCH. AHHHHHHH. *PS- Amazon releases movies a few weeks earlier* ALWAYS TEAM CAP #TEAMCAP I LOVE STEVE
The bell rang, and with it, Gwen grabbed her books and shoved her papers into a green folder.
"Be sure to turn in your homework tomorrow!" Mrs. Green called as all the kids filed out the door.
Gwen had to conceal her groan. Seriously? It was the first day of school, and she was already assigned math homework?
"One of the perks of starting middle school!" she thought sarcastically. Scrambling out of the door, she was roughly shoved to the side.
Her papers flew everywhere as people continued to walk around, barely noticing her. But really, what else was expecting? Who was she really? Just Gwen Stacy who- against her begging and pleading to her parents- had moved to Midtown Middle School over the summer. She didn't know anyone- except her next door neighbors who were older than her parents.
Crouching down, she skidded around, frantically trying to collect her items before they were gone. The papers were crumbled as she shoved them in her bag. She'd have time to rearrange them at lunch, but really, she'd rather spend her time in the library cleaning her supplies than awkwardly looking for a place to sit in the cafeteria.
The hallway cleared out, and as Gwen stood up, she had to face the horrifying truth.
Her schedule had been lost in the chaos. She really, really, wished she hadn't moved from Washington.
"I just had math so, I have language arts next?" She mumbled to herself, trying to keep her thoughts straight. "No, that's on block days. Today's Tuesday, so....science? No, I have language arts, which...is this way?"
Ring.
The warning bell rang, and Gwen could have collasped right then and there.
No, no, no, NO! She was most surely NOT going to be late on her first day of school.
"ARGG!" She let out a cry of aggravation.
"You okay there?" Spinning around, Gwen faced a boy who looked around her age, maybe older. His bag was slung lazily over his shoulder, and there was a playful glint in his warm brown eyes.
Gwen felt her face flush, but this was her only chance, and there was no way she would miss her class because of some embarassment, "Actually, no. I am not alright."
Geez, Gwen, couldn't just be blunt and say you had no idea where your classes were?
"Oh," an amused smirk played on his lips, one she wanted to wipe off immedietley.
"Yes," she said and crossed her arms. "Now, could you please help me?"
"I don't know.." he said smugly.
"Ugh!" she threw her hands in the air. "Look, okay? This is my first day of middle school, which also happens to be my first day of school since we moved here! All I want to do is get out of middle school so I can graduate high school so I can have a successful career so I can provide for my future family! Now I can't very well do that if I miss this first lesson. I know I have no clue who you are, but you happen to be the only person standing in this hallway and all I need-"
"My name's Peter," he interrupted.
Gwen stopped her rant, "Huh?"
"I said my name is Peter," he repeated. After seeing the scowl on her face, Peter continued, "You said you have no idea who I was. And now you do."
She tapped her foot, very irritable, "Peter, could you please help me find my classroom?"
He smiled, "Certainly, madam."
If she hadn't of felt so stressed, she would have rolled her eyes at him.
"Sixth grade language arts is down here," he said, leading her down a hallway. "I got bumped up to seventh grade classes, so now is my elective time. Aiding."
"Aiding?" she raises her eyebrows. "Students like me?"
He shrugged, "They haven't really specified yet."
Her lips formed an "O" shape, before they stopped in front of a classroom. "Thanks so much," she said gratefully. As an after thoughts, she added, "And I'm Gwen."
"I know," he winked. Seeing the look on her face, he quickly added, "Just kidding!"
Gwen grinned, "Well, I'll see you around?"
He grinned back at her, "I sure hope so." And with that he turned away and began to walk back.
Hmm, maybe this school year wouldn't be so bad afterall.
