Legendary Hudson River 315-mile (507 km)
greater than life, flowing from north to south
through the majestic Hudson Valley
eventually draining into the Atlantic Ocean
between New York City and Jersey City.
Money lenders, loan sharks
chartered accountants, CFA's
not to forget the tax attorney
invariably coldhearted people
dollars and cents
it's all they care about
no matter where the bread is coming from.
I'm a complicit mastermind
plotting and scheming all-day-long
against the customer, against the Fed
swimming between other sharks
operating in unforgiving landscapes
chronically short of pure poetry.
Can I perhaps build a bridge
over troubled Hudson River waters
connect Wall Street and Main Street
to the reality of unimagined love?
