Bree
The next day was Bella and Edward’s wedding. Cameron stayed home because his wound was sore from whatever Carlisle put on it and Winona had gone out somewhere. I sat on the top of the steps. And I noticed something I had never noticed before. Through the floor, I could feel Bella’s heart beating as Alice helped her with her dress and makeup. I went upstairs to watch. I sat on the couch in Alice’s room. Alice was keeping Bella in her bathroom before she unveiled her to me.
“Okay, Bree. Ready?” Alice sang. She pulled Bella out of the bathroom.
She looked so beautiful. She barely needed makeup, except for a little blush and some pink lipstick. Her dark hair was piled into a bun and her off-white dress was absolutely covered in sparkly beads and things.
“Bella, wow,” I said.
My phone rang. I pulled it out. It was Cameron.
“What?” I asked.
“Um, is this stuff that Carlisle gave me supposed to make my arm stop working?” he asked.
“I don’t know,” I said. “Alice, do you know if the stuff Carlisle gave Cameron was supposed to make it so he can’t move his arm?”
“I think so. Not only will it heal, but while it heals, his arm will be unusable, giving you time to go to work so that you don’t have to babysit. He’s practically paralyzed. Carlisle said something about it before he put it on,” she said. “Can you come zip this?”
I went to zip Alice’s dress up as I told Cameron about the salve. “What?” he whined.
“ Yup,” I said.
“Ok, thanks, I’ll see you later,” he said, hanging up.
I hung up. “You too, make an adorable couple,” Alice said as I applied a little blush to her pale cheeks.
“Yeah, yeah. That’s what Winona says. Trisha too,” I said.
“Well, they are right. I think Cameron has a crush on you too,” Bella said.
“Well, it’s obvious!” Alice said.
I rolled my eyes. “Oh, and you have to go pick up the food so you’ll be back by around 4 after you little outside time,” Alice said.
I smiled. I helped her finish straightening her makeup and clothes and headed for the window. Bella grabbed me and kissed me on the cheek. Halfway out the window, I said, “Good luck,” and then I jumped out.
I landed like I’d seen a lot of extremely awesome people in movies do, with one fist smashed into the ground. I bolted off. My nose searched for the smell of an animal somewhere. All I picked up was wet dog.
I looked around, my eyes stinging as I walked into the woods. Then I saw him. There he was, Jacob Black, buttoning up a dress shirt. He had the buttons all screwed up so I decided to hold my breath and help.
“You need a mirror,” I said.
He looked over at me. He looked surprised.
“What are you doing out here? Shouldn’t you be at Bella’s wedding?” he asked.
“I should ask the same for you,” I said, putting my hands on my hips.
