My Only Exception

Chapter 9

"Congratulations, Mr. Yu."

He took the hand of Carolyn, the client who held a big party on his bar that night. She was a regular, and she definitely spent a good amount of cash for the party she held. He didn't mind what it was for. He was just glad that she was satisfied and that they exceeded what she wanted.

"Thank you," he smiled.

"So name your price," she flirted.

He remained civil even if he knew she was throwing hints on him for a very long time now.

"Just like what we agreed on. Hasn't changed at all," he answered.

"Even if you added something extra for my guests?"

"Consider that as a treat and a thank you for choosing to do business with us. I know you wouldn't hesitate recommending us to people you know," he said.

She smiled. "I wouldn't," she answered and took her checkbook out of her bag. She wrote the amount they have agreed on and handed it to him. "Thank you for making my guests drunk happy."

"My pleasure," he laughed.

"And this is for you," she said and handed him another check.

"What's this for?"

"Bonus. I like what you did. You deserve that," she said and looked around the place.

"Thanks," he said and kept it on his pocket. "It was nice doing business with you."

"Me too. You want to have some time alone perhaps? I mean, with me..." she finally said.

He swallowed and smiled. "I'm sorry. I'm almost good as married."

"I don't see a ring," she was persistent.

"I know," he laughed. "Just not formal yet but I am working on it."

She tried to smile. "Lucky girl."

"Lucky me," he corrected her.

"I'll go now," she said. "Till the next event."

As soon as she left, he asked his crew to finish cleaning up. He left cash to one of the supervisors for them as a bonus before leaving and drove going to his condo as soon as he got his bag on his office. He immediately went inside his unit where he found her eating popcorn with Seff.

"Thanks man," he told his brother. "Thank you for keeping her company."

"You're welcome," Seff smiled. "I guess I have to go now. Raffy, I'll go ahead."

"Bye. Take care Seff," she said and waved.

When the door got closed, he took the seat beside her and hugged her.

"Thank you Love," he whispered.

She didn't say anything.

"Hey... I'm sorry. Are you still mad at me?"

She got out of his hold and stood up. "Matutulog na ako. Just check the door before you sleep. Ikaw na bahala tutal andito ka na," she said and went inside his room, straight to the bathroom.

He followed. "Love... Talk to me please. I know ang dami ko ng utang sayo. I'm trying to find time. And para sayo lahat ng bagay na ginagawa ko," he said. He continued hugging her and kissed her on the neck.

"Inaantok na ako Ethan. Kanina pa ako gising dahil sabi ni Seff, hintayin ka namin dumating. Alangan namang tulugan ko yung nagmamagandang loob mong kapatid? Ngayon nandito ka na, matutulog na ko. Iwanan mo na lang number ng secretary mo para makapagpa-schedule ako sayo."
