i drove home slowly, regreting how i let millie go so easily.
i should've fought harder, wanting love from someone who doesn't love you will destory your fucking heart.
and i think mine just shattered.

i walked in my apartment building, and looked at my phone, when i did that, i carelessly bumped into a girl.

"oh, i'm sorry." i said as i bent down and picked up her purse.

"it's okay, it was my fault really,"

i noticed her nametag inside of her bag.

"here, chloe smith, right?"

she nodded, "yeah, how did you know?"

"nametag," i smirked

"ohh, see you around—"

"finn," i finished for her "finn wolfhard."

she waved as she walked out the building, those minutes that me and chloe talked i forgot about millie.
i repeated those words in my head
i forgot about millie.

---

the next day i planned to go to a new coffee shop before going to see the duffer brothers.
so i woke up earlier than usual, and left
my apartment around ten, they opened around eleven so i had an hour to drive around town.

i parked my car in front of the coffee shop and went in.
when i walked in i noticed millie's friend, maddie.
she waved at me and gestured for me to come sit next to her.

"hi," i said "how's millie?"

"haven't you heard?"

i shook my head confused

"she never got on the plane, she stayed here."

"why," i choked on my words

"him," she pointed to a man a little taller than me behind the counter, he had short brown hair and he had a stronger build.
he looked like a frat boy.

"who's he," i said as i studied him

"that's peter jones. him and millie really hit it off the two weeks you guys stopped talking."

i sat in silence.
i was tempted to jump over the counter and punch him.

"i really have to get going, it was nice talking to you." i waved to maddie as i got in my car.

i pulled out my phone and texted millie.

me : hey, how's paris ?

millie : great! miss me yet?

me : yeah

i started to drive to millie's house, how could she lie.
she must've known i'd find out sooner or later.
how could she not tell me that she had a boyfriend.

i pulled up to millie's house and jumped out of the car.
i pounded on the door.

"hello?" i shouted

i heard the door unlock and when it opened i was surprised to see mr. brown.

"hi son, what do you need?"

"i need to talk to millie,"

"she's not here remember, she left for paris yesterday."

"okay, i'm sorry but i really need to talk to her." i made my way past mr. brown and ran up the stairs.

i reached millie's bedroom door and pushed it open.
millie was sitting in a chair on her phone.

"you have a lot of explaining to do." i said fighting back tears

"finn— i was going to tell you."

"yeah! is that so? when millie, when we're you going to tell me you had a secret boyfriend, and some how he convinced you to stay in atlanta?" by now i was yelling

"finn, are you mad?"

"no,"

"then what are you?" she whispered

"hurt." i said as i walked out and left

---

somehow i was standing in front of me and sadie's old apartment, her car wasn't in the parking lot so she wasn't home.
but for some reason i came here, i didn't know why or how i got here.
but i'm here.
i shouldn't be here after what she did, but technically it was millie's fault.

i heard sadie's car coming down the road, i quickly jumped in my car and drove away before she could see me.

i made my way to the duffer brothers house and walked in.
matt was sitting at the table on the phone

"what do you mean you can't premier the  new season on netflix?" i overheard

i walked in and he immediately hung up the phone.

"hey finn, how's millie?"

i grimaced at her name, "fine, just fine."

"so since your starting our program in five weeks, i want to give you some helpful suggestions."

"okay," i said as i sat down

he explained to me that their would be competition and it wouldn't all be that easy.

"thanks, see you then," i said as i walked out

i sat in my car for about ten minutes before driving back to my apartment.
once i got there i noticed millie's car in the parking lot.
i walked up the stairs and found her sitting by my door.

"hello," i said startling her

she got up and brushed off her coat, "hi,"

"what are you doing here?"

"i wanted to um— say sorry, i should've told you. i didn't expect anything to happen, but peter makes me happy."

my jaw clenched as she continued

"and let me tell you how we met—"

i interrupted her, "don't bother," i paused "have fun with peter,"

i walked passed her, went inside my apartment and slammed the door.
i hurried and turned around and looked through the peep hole to see what she did.

she stood there for a second, and then she left.

i turned back around and faced my living room, which was still full of moving boxes.
i slumped down on the ground and sat.

love is a very tricky thing.
