Austin Moon is the residential bad boy of Marino High. Ally Dawson, the nerd with the two loser best friends, Trish and Dez, by her side. But when Austin finds out Ally has a hidden talent of songwriting, just as he hides his voice from the rest of the world, he sees her as his way to the top. He then schemes a plan to befriend Ally to become famous, planning to leave her behind when he's done. But what would happen if Austin starts to like Ally as a friend, or even more?
