Chapter 31

I agreed to hangout with Karina today, not because I was giving her another shot. But because I had no plans and didn't want to stay at home bored. We'd planned to go to an aquarium that was 30 minutes away.

What did that mean? 30 minutes of Karina being annoying and loud and singing along to the songs on the radio.

Side To Side by Ariana Grande was playing as Karina started singing along.

"I'm comin' at ya cause I know you got a bad reputation, doesn't matter cause you give me temptation," Karina sang along.

"Shut up, will ya?" I suggested.

"But if it's quiet then it's boring." she replied.

"Good, let it be boring. Maybe this'll give you a hint not to hangout with me again," I replied.

The only person I'd be okay with being loud and annoying would be Maria, like the last time she rode with me.

30 minutes later, we made it to the aquarium.

"Wow! Look at all these beautiful fishes!" Karina said looking at the huge tank of fishes in front of us.

"Heh, yeah. I found Dory already," I replied.

"Can you take a picture of me and all these fishes please?" she asked handing me her phone.

"Sure." I replied taking it as she faced the huge tank of fishes and I snapped a picture. "Okay, I got it." I said handing her phone back.

"Thank you!" she replied looking at the photo. "Do you want a picture too?" she asked.

"No, it's--" she cut me off.

"Aw, come on! Memory," she replied with a smile. "I'll take it." she added.

I sighed softly and faced the tank, my hands in my pockets as she took the picture. "Got it!" she said with a big smile. "I'll send it to you later," she added.

All we basically did was just walk around the aquarium looking at the many different colored and types of fishes. I felt like Maria would enjoy it here at the aquarium as well, looking at all these aquatic creatures. She had her date today, I wonder how it's going...

"Hey, Hunter. Are you okay?" Kari asked snapping me out of my own thoughts.

"Huh? Oh, yeah. Just thinking about someone-- I mean something," I replied, quickly changing my reply.

She tilted her head at me, "Someone?" she questioned curiously.

"I meant something, not someone." I lied.

I was thinking about Maria.. my thoughts seem to always find it's way to her.

"Mhm, okay. Let's go check out the turtles?" she asked with a smile.

"I guess so." I replied, walking ahead of her to the turtles.

It's kinda sad, Karina's trying really hard to be close to me. But, I don't want to be close to her, not again at most. I kept conversations with her today at a minimum.

"You found Dory earlier, but I found Squirt! Oh my gosh, it's so cute~" Kari said happily watching the turtles.

Again, all we did was look at the aquatic creatures. We had planned to eat outside of the aquarium, but that was only when we were done looking at all the aquatic creatures that were here.

"I'm getting hungry. Can we head to the bathroom first then get going?" she asked.

"Sure." I replied, leading the way to the bathroom.
