I can't believe my parents are here. How dare they show up for Christmas and think everything is going to fine and dandy. Christmas morning was extremely awkward due to the fact that I didn't get them anything, and dinner was even worse. We had absolutely nothing to talk about. Thank god that  my dad had to leave Christmas night. He just kept hounding me about college and a carer that was 'better' and more achievable than basketball. He wanted me to follow in his foot steps. I would rather be dead then be anything like him.

The sound of the door bell broke me out of my thoughts.  Quickly, I got up to answer the door before my mom got the chance. I had no idea what was on the other side, and my mom wasn't the most welcoming person.

"Hello?" I say as I open the door and quickly smile when I see Liam and Hazel.

"Hey. Ready for the game or what?" Liam says, holding up a two litter of soda and a bag of chips. Since all of us played sports, we couldn't afford to get caught drinking. Soda was the next best thing, and personally I think it tasted better to.

"Honey, who's at the door?" My mom asks, poking her head around the corner.

"Hi, I'm Hazel." She said, sticking her hand out in front of her.

"Hi, i'm Stacey, Blake's mom" Hazels face became surprised and quickly glanced at me in shock.

"And I'm Liam." He continued confused at the looks me and Hazel were sharing.

"Are you the tag along girlfriend?" I heard my mom ask Hazel and gestured to Liam. Damn it mom. Hazels face turned a dark shade of pink and looked insulted.

"Actually, Hazel plays on the basketball team with me and happens to be my girlfriend."I grab Hazels hand and pull her into my side lovingly. She giggles. Hmm, music to my ears. I don't think I will ever get enough of that sound.

"I'm gonna go put this in the kitchen." Liam awkwardly says, sliding past me.

"You play on the boys team?" My mom says disapprovingly.

"Yep. They cut the girls team, but thankfully I was tall enough to play with the guys.I can't imagine not playing." She laughs kindly, but talking with passion.

"Yeah, well you sure are a giant." She mumbled under her breath and hurt flashed momentarily in Hazels brown eyes

"Mom, stop." I sigh, taking my free hand and pinching the bridge of my nose.

"Oh, I think I got the wrong date for the game. I'll come back later." Hazel mutters, pulling her phone out to text Liam.  Shit, this can't happen.

"Babe, you never get the wrong date for basketball games." I say pleadingly. I needed her here. I can't have her leave here under these circumstances. I can't let her leave this hurt and insulted.

"I'm going out for a drink. I can't believe you would want to spend time with some bimbo girlfriend of yours than your own mother." She said throwing a brown fury coat over her creme sweater.

"To be fair ma'am, Blake has his own life here. You are never here, and you can't just expect him to drop everything the minute you decided to come home for a week. I don't know what I've done to make you so upset, but i'm not a 'bimbo'." She says, her voice coming to a low whisper.  "I was trying to be nice to you, but you just keep insulting me. I don't understand why you dislike me when you haven't even met me. You're more than welcome to watch the game with us.No body's saying you can't hang out with your son and his friends." Hazel offered in a last attempt to please my stubborn and rude mother.

"Why would I want to watch sweaty guys running with people I don't even know." She scoffs and slams the door. I'm definitely not going to be home when she gets back. I'm going to have to call someone from the team and ask if I can stay with them for the night. My mom will be gone by morning, that I  can guarantee.

"I'm so sorry." I mumble, looking into Hazels eyes. "I had no idea that she was coming. I forgot to tell-" I was cut off by Hazels soft lips against mine.

"I'm not mad. I just don't understand why she was acting like that. If I wanted to be treated like that I would talk to the girls at our school." I couldn't help but laugh. It was so true. She let out a little laugh with me.

"Guys It's starting!" Liam yelled from the living room, the T.V blasting loudly over his barley audible voice.

We both walk over to the couch and continue our newly found tradition. I didn't need my parents approval. I was accepted by my friends, and that's way more important to me.Why would I go out of my way to satisfy people I never see. people I barley know anymore. I watch as Hazel and Liam argue over the starters, and I couldn't help but smile. I wouldn't change this moment for the world.

"Take that back right now!" Hazel yells at him. Liam just shakes his head violently.

"Make me." He smirks.

"Its on!" she yells jumping on top of him. I watch as she sticks a finger in her mouth and aggressive shoved it into his ear. He let out a little yelp and started swatting at Hazel. unfortunately for him, Hazel had him in a death grip.

"Fine you're right!" Liam yelled, throwing his hands up in defeat.

"About what?" Hazel smirks, knowing she has him. I couldn't help but smile.

"Lebron James isn't and never will be the best player on the Cleveland Cavaliers."

"How could you even think that bro?" I ask laughing at the scene unfolding before me.

"I knew it would piss Hazel off." He replied with a devious smirk. Of course.

"you'll pay for that you turd." She grumbles, a wicked grin on her face.

These are the moments I live for. The ones that will stay with us forever. I know i'll never forget this. I know I'll never be able to forget her, even if I wanted to.
