as the clock strikes
midnight, fireworks
adorned the night sky
admiration and cheers
could be heard from the crowds
of people from different backgrounds
another year was over
a new beginning
for those who regretted,
they could rewrite a new
chapter this year
forget the old one
we now live in the present
and not the past
so adorn a smile
on your face just
like how fireworks
adorned the night sky
because this was
a new beginning
