After traveling a long way, Ash and his friends finally made it to Vermilion City!
"Aw, I can't wait to take a nice, warm bubble bath!" Misty sighs.
"And go to the laundromat," adds Brock.
"Wait," Ash interrupts as he picks up Pikachu.
"I think he might be hungry," Misty says looking at Pikachu.
"We haven't eaten anything decent for three days," informs Brock.
"Pikachu, are you hungry?" Asks Ash.
"Yeah," answers Pikachu.
"I say we go to the pokemon center," says Brock.

Ash hands his pokemon to Nurse Joy.
Someone with blueish green hair runs in with an injured rattata.
"Hurry! You'll be ok, rattata. Hurry!" Orders the boy.
"Oh its the 53th one brought in this month," Joy sighs, standing up,"they all lost to Lt. Surge, the Vermilion gym leader."
Ash quietly growls. The bell rings.
"Hm? That bell means your pokemon have recovered," Nurse Joy smiles.

Pikachu happily munches on an apple.
"Pikachu, after you're done that apple do you wanna check the gym out with me? I want to see who the gym leader is," asks Ash.
Another person rushes in with a badly injured pokemon.
"I guess..." answers Pikachu, nodding his head. Nurse Joy walks over to them.
"If you're thinking of battling Lt. Surge. You might need one of these," says Nurse Joy as she opens a box revealing a thunder stone.
Ash looks at it and cringes. He doesn't like forcing pokemon to evolve.
"It's up to Pikachu," Ash replies putting the box in front of Pikachu.
Pikachu looks at the box debating whether to use it or not and then knocks the box off the table.
"No!" Answers Pikachu.
Ash hugs Pikachu.
"I'm so happy you said no," comments Ash.

Ash and the others enter the gym and see a girl and a boy at the entrance.
"I want to see the gym leader," says Ash.
"Hey boss, another victim for the emergency room," calls the boy.
