Up ahead I could see the large, French doors leading to the ballroom slowly closing as if someone had just slipped inside. But before they could shut all the way, I slammed myself into them forcing them back open with a resounding bang that temporarily muted the Christmas music coming from inside. A few eyes and several heads turned to see what the commotion was, and when they landed on me they immediately registered that something was off for several different reasons. My attention, however, was elsewhere as I scanned the room for one important person. It was difficult to find him amongst the crowd of his own kind. The only person who really stood out amongst the frill and sparkles and pressed suits was myself. However, I noticed one figure dashing through the crowd with a heavy limp, and I knew then I had found him.

I, too, pushed roughly past the crowd to make my way towards Sparrow who was now in the corner talking to a tall, dark figure. The man's back was turned to me, but I could make out his elf costume which definitely stood out from the crowd. I had no idea why Sparrow would talk to him, or what they were discussing. But with the way he was waving his hands around, his face different shades of red, it seemed urgent. Probably demanding help. Not that I minded. They could join the party if they wanted.

I caused a few spills from running into so many people and collected several disapproving grunts. More apologies for another time I suppose. Although I'm not sure that will be enough when I crash their party here in a few seconds, if I haven't already. Ever so slowly Sparrow started to become within reach. And right when I could almost touch him, his eyes landed on me and he immediately retreated from the person he was talking to.
