Two trials. That's what we were given. One for extortion, one for murder. At first it was going to be just one trial, but the second Armita and Oliver examined the different files on Malcolm's flash drive, including my brother's file, they knew it wasn't going to be that easy. It took longer than we had hoped for to get the dates set; especially since Malcolm announced that he wasn't going to go down without a fight. Because of that, the months that lead up to the trial were all spent feeling exhausted as Armita tried to gather as much evidence against him as she could with Grayson, Katy, Jason and I trying to help. Her team had plenty of information against him, but when we all discovered Malcolm was going to hire the top lawyer in Florida, the one who could make any guilty man look like a saint, we knew we had to step it up even further.

The first trial arrived at the end of April, around my birthday, for extortion. It didn't last very long, though, because of the overwhelming amount of evidence that pointed back to the members of the Flock. The only way Malcolm could defend himself was to act like he wasn't Vulture, which was almost comical to watch him and his lawyer do. However, that was quickly shut down when the prosecutor played a recording of Katy and Sparrow discussing her father being Vulture the night at the ball. Immediately, they shrunk down in their seats knowing they were defeated.

Because of the recording along with countless victims giving their stories, the jury, along with the judge, immediately found Malcolm and Christina Devenue, Holden and Sebastian Morrison, also known as Sparrow and Finch, along with various other crooked members, guilty. As punishment for their crimes, they had to serve an extensive amount of jail time, as well as pay back all the victims their money with an additional twenty-thousand dollars to compensate for their suffering. When that announcement was made, almost everyone in the room cried tears of joy. All except for Jason, who appeared too shocked to speak. But when he finally found his voice, he turned to Armita and said, "Please don't taze me," before kissing her so deeply it caused a few people to do a double-take. But even though it came as a complete surprise, Armita didn't pull away or seem to mind at all.

The next trial, that came in the middle of summer, was not so happy. Especially when they had to re-examine Paxton's case. All sorts of things I had kept tucked away about that night had to come back as I was being questioned relentlessly. By the end of it all, I was completely drained, emotionally and physically, and I wasn't the only one. Katy suffered along with me as she stayed by my side throughout the trial process which wasn't easy because on top of my emotions she had to handle her own feelings when hearing the extent of her parent's damage.

It was rough for everyone, but it was all worth it to see them take Sparrow away along with the man who pulled the trigger that ended my brother's life. Malcolm and Finch, or Sebastian I should say, were also found guilty of arranging several other killings over the decades. They were all given no bail and no probation for their crimes. Only Amber could be found upset about the entire situation as she sobbed when they took Sparrow away. I, on the other hand, felt something else. Something I hadn't felt in a long time. And when the judge finally dismissed the room, I turned to Katy to tell her there was something I needed to do.
