Mya's POV.

Damion showed me around campus, introducing me to more and more people. So much for having a small circle huh?

"I'm going to have to compete with so many guys for you."

I laughed.

"I doubt that. I'm not even thinking about guys right now."

"So what is it you want to even accomplish in this cold part of the world?" He chuckled.

"I'm going to study literature. Become a writer maybe."

"Never thought of you as the writer type." A confused expression merged among his face.

"I used to sing and dance, but I wasn't all that good. My friends.. they used to record me. We always thought we were doing something." I looked off into the distance, reminiscing everything I still loved. Of course I could still communicate with them all over the phone, but it just wasn't the same.

I noticed a girl, approaching us. She was thin, with long black hair and black eyes.

She gave me a puzzled expression when she noticed me with Damion.

"You know her?" I asked Damion.

He peered in the direction I was once looking, nodding his head.

"Yeah.. that's Haley. We're friends." Damion shrugged.

I awkwardly smiled, and he quickly added, "Trust me, that's all we are. She's in some weird relationship anyway."

He waved as this Haley girl approached us. She just had this natural super happy expression across her face, you couldn't even tell if it were sarcastic or not.

"Damion... just who I wanted to see." She laughed.

"My girl." I watched them shake hands.

"Hi." She spoke to me. It was obvious she was waiting for me to speak. But reluctantly, I didn't. I could sense a bad vibe coming from her.

"Haley, this is Mya. She's new here. She's gorgeous right?" Damion gave me a soft smile and I couldn't help but return the gesture.

"That she is.." Haley's voice trailed off.

"Just came to see if you were still going to the party later?" Haley asked Damion.

"Oh. I don't know. Maybe. I'll text you. I'm about to go see Zack in a few." He informed Haley.

"Bet. Nice meeting you Mya." Haley gave me a smirk.

"Mmmm." I replied to her.

"Not a people person now?" Damion asked.

"Guess not, you did say keep a small circle." I pointed out.

"I sure did. She's not too bad though." He admitted.

"Well, thank you for showing me around. It was really nice meeting you, I'll see you around. Bye Damion." Before I could move he pulled me in for a hug. It felt so weird but so comforting. I guess I just needed one badly.

I was happy when I reached my room, unlocking the door to see another girl with an angry expression on her face.

"Hi...." I awkwardly walked into the room.

"You couldn't possibly think you'd have a dorm to yourself. I mean, I know I'm late when today is the sign in day, but still." The girl shook her head.

I watched her swing her silky brown hair over her shoulders, I guess that was her way of intimidating me.

"You're right. I'm sorry. Just, take this bed. I rushed to the second bed across the room, moving some of my belongings off it.

"I'm Megan. Didn't mean to ruin your mood but... I've been here for thirty minutes. I was about to throw your shit off the bed." She laughed.

"I'm dumb. I should've known I'd have a roommate. Oh, and I'm Mya." I added.

"You from here?" Megan asked, turning around to face me.

"Detroit actually. I don't know that many people here." I sighed.

"I've lived here my whole life, I'll introduce you to people don't worry girl." She smiled.

Maybe she wasn't so much of a bitch after all...

"Hey, um, you know Damion?" I asked her.

"Damion? Skinny black guy, sweet smile, naturally flirty?"

"That would be the one. He showed me around a little. We actually just met." I nodded.

"Yeah he's cool. We call him lover boy." She laughed.

"He said I was beautiful but I don't know if he's saying it because he wants me or if he's just one of your average player boys." I crossed my arms.

"He only flirts with girls he wants something with. Not the player type. If you want a good boy though, I suggest you talk to him. Otherwise, someone here will run through you. Guys around here just don't care. Damion's a rare good boy. He just got out of a relationship less than a month ago."

"Yeah, we will see." I replied.
