~Kendrick Lamar~

I stopped in front of the big double doors with two guards standing in front of them. I showed them my badge ID on my lanyard. One of them nodded and opened the door.

The first thing I saw was a binder fly across the room and I sighed. Vice President Reynolds had an itty bitty temper when he couldn't find what he was looking for. He almost always blamed it on his secretary Cheryl, who wasn't even there to be blamed. What a hell of an evening it will be.

I quickly and quietly walked around the vacant seats of the large board room, clutching my binder to my chest. There were at least twelve people in there, a good amount representing the US. Besides the President--who was sitting at the edge of the table with his hands clasped in front of him calmly--and the VP, the board included Armed Services, Finance, Stat, and Foreign Affairs. Almost all of which had their own assistants sitting behind them taking notes.

I took a seat behind the 'assistant line', thankfully not drawing attention to myself. The board was engaged in such a conversation, everyone excluding Richard Belving, Statistics, who was sitting there silently, basically probably planning everyone's demise. His narrowed eyes behind his circular glasses, the way he leaned back in his chair with his arms folded a little judgmentally...but of course he was listening to Dan Reynolds mouth off about Italians, so it was understandable.

"Kinda weird, ain't he?" I jumped in my seat and looked over. Directly next to me sitting all casual was a guy, early to mid twenties, darling face with nice brown hair, wearing a nice suit jacket.

"When the hell did you get there?" I asked quietly, creasing my eyebrows surprised and a little creeped.

"Only a moment ago." He looked at me with a little grin and I continued to stare.

He put his hand out politely. "Finn Cassio. Belving's number boy."

I looked at his hand then back at him. His grin was amused. "I'm not gonna bite, I promise." His voice was southern, kinda cute.

I blinked a little before shaking his hand. "Rachel Bennett, Thompson's polyglot.Where are you from, down South?" I asked quietly, basically ignoring the fact that he appeared out of no where.

"Texas." He answered with a smile, gently dropping my hand. "And I know. Everyone knows the World's most efficient Google Translator." He teased and I chuckled a little. "Google doesn't conjugate."

"And you do, therefore Bennett is greater than Google." Finn added and I laughed again. "No choice but to agree with you, number boy. Speaking of which, what exactly does one do?" I crossed my legs, careful not to crease my navy blue pencil skirt.
