"Did you hear me?" Ammi asked over the phone.

I couldn't talk so i just nodded even though she couldn't see me. I was conveyed some few hours back to my matrimonial home and now everybody is gone, leaving me all alone. And thats when the waterworks started.

I couldn't imagine how boring my wedding would have been without the surprise bridal shower saf and mirah organized. I always wish to have an exuberant wedding with the normal procedures. However, i was immensely happy but at the same time sad... so sad that my parents weren't here to witness their daughter's wedding... So sad that umma wasn't here to give me the nasiha (Good advise) like how every mother does to her daughter on her wedding day... so sad that this marriage has a deadline. I have all the reasons to cry, don't i?

"Yes" I said in between tears.

"I want to repeat this to you, kada ki yanda wani abu ya hada ku and I'm very serious about it.. you see, my daughter, I don't want you to be heartbroken, even your mother wouldn't want that if she was alive... just do what you were told and thats it, kinji?"

I closed my eyes as tears continued to roll down my cheeks "Okay, thank you!"

I walked to the mirror and stared at me reflection but immediately regretted. My face was smeared with mascara. Yuk!

I removed my gold jewelry and bangles which my mother had been keeping for me before she died and loosened my hair bun and allowed the curls to flow over my shoulders and all the way to the middle of my back.

I removed my blue lafaya (tobe) and headed to the bathroom.

I gaped at the sight before me, once i opened the bathroom door.
