It was the day after that little encounter with the corporal, and currently there was a lull in castle happenings for the lunch break. You'd already eaten, and you were spending the remainder of your time lounging around outside, simply glancing at the people that passed you by with a distant look.
You were thinking about whatever, mind drifting to different topics as time passed. Things such as the once unattainable open sky you could take flight in, or the new career as a Survey Corps soldier, or the friendly people you had met in the few days you'd spent above ground. Right, the people. The Underground City wasn't the best place to make friends, the few allies you had ending up leaving you one way or another, but the new faces that greeted you at the castle were all so diverse and wonderful and best of all welcoming. Each one brought out the old you, the cheerful before-Underground-you, and you couldn't be more thankful for it.You laid there on the ground, hands propping your torso up as you tilted your head back to the sky, watching white puffy clouds before closing your eyes peacefully and taking a deep breath. It was calm, serene even, to have so much peace in this land above ground you'd lost so much connection to. Another deep breath in, appreciating the silence.
Some 5 minutes later, the sound of footsteps on the grass came to your ears. You open one eye in the direction of the noise, seeing the members of Squad Levi (aside from the leader) approaching you. You sat up straight, intruiged as to what they have to say after the ordeal during training. Petra led the group, and she spoke first."We came to apologize about what happened. You aren't any less human than us, and we reacted too harshly. Forgive us." She said, voice formal, but geniuine. You blinked, a bit surprised.
"You weren't ordered to do this, were you..?" Gunther shook his head.
"We decided to do this ourselves, with a slight...exception."He said, eyeing Oluo, who's eyes clearly showed he still wasn't fond of you. Fair enough.
"Well then, I accept your apology. I'm glad...this, doesn't ruin our relations as team members." You say, moving your wings slightly to gesture them. You really were grateful, the less hated you were, the better. The squad nodded, and you got up from the ground, brushing yourself off.
"So, what's the plan for the rest of the day?" You inquired, placing a hand on your hip as you eyed the 3DMG on their hips.
"We're testing out the titan brat again." Oluo said with a scoff. Once again, you blinked in shock.
"Titan?" You wondered aloud. Then it hit you.
"The last hope...Eren!" you whispered-yelled. Petra nodded.
"I see you've met him then. C'mon, breaks almost over, let's get to the testing area." She said kindly. You followed the squad through the castle to the other side, greeted with a vast field with only a few trees and a large well in the center. Hanji, Levi, and Erwin were already there with Eren, seeming to be going over the procedure. When you arrived, Erwin turned around to face you and the team.
"Ah, there you are. We'll need you all for backup in case things get rough." He stated, voice crisp as you all knew what he meant. All the soldiers seemed confident as could be, meanwhile you struggled to maintain your cool demeanor. What could you say, titans weren't really something you've dealt with before.
A few moments later and everyone had plans in their heads for whatever may happen. Eren made his way down a well, you and the team standing by. You had learned before Eren was the boy with the title "Humanity's Last Hope", the one you had heard about so much, and needless to say you were surprised such a young boy possessed such weight on his shoulders. Hanji might as well have been a child at an amusement park, gripping her clipboard and pen so tight her knuckles turned white as her wicked smile grew. Another few seconds, and then a strike of lightning shot into the well, steam erupting from the hole until a deep roar followed it. Everyone shifted, cautious with their guard up as they prepared for the worst. Your own eyes flashed as you felt your muscles tense.
