Prom. The supposed highlight of ones senior year. Cassie had dreamt of this day since first grade. The dress, the hair, the shoes, the date, the limo. It was all so glamorous to her as a young girl. Although, now that it was here, she wasn't really feeling the 'Prom' hype. She had found a gorgeous dress, the perfect shoes, and a cute date, but something was missing.

James was already downstairs, while Jasmine, and Collin were on their way. She looked in to the mirror one last time. She acknowledged how beautiful she looked, but couldn't bring herself to smile. With the flip of her perfectly curled hair, she made her way down the stairs.

"Wow." James muttered. He hoped it was to himself, but it was audible enough for Cassie to hear. Looking at her now, gave him this weird feeling. The same feeling that he felt, when she appeared on stage with him, and the same feeling he felt when she got her acceptance letter. A different feeling than he's ever gotten with Jasmine, or anyone. This brought him back to the moment where he said he didn't have any feelings for her. He wished he could take it back. She shook her head in annoyance, as she began to talk.

"God, it's the shoes, isn't it? I knew I should've gone with black-" She panicked, walking towards the living room. He followed.

"No- no. You look great. Amazing- actually." He said slowly, as if he was just trying out those words for the first time. She finally looked at him with furrowed eyebrows, before she realized just how good he looked. His hair was styled, and he was in a nice suit. He was also wearing a purple bow tie, that his mother had forced him into. Cassie stopped herself from biting her lip, before responding.

"Thanks." She finally smiled. "You look great too." An obnoxious clicking noise, filled the room. Following the sound, they noticed Cassie's mom in the corner with a camera. Both of their parents , except Cassie's father, stood in the living room in that 'Parental awe' of their kid's prom night. They were reliving their own proms, and high school experiences.

"Okay, now get closer." She told the two. Cassie rolled her eyes as she and James stood shoulder to shoulder for the picture. Corrine, Cassie's mom, always felt the need to take pictures. Of everything. This 'picture taking obsession' ranges from her 100th day of kindergarten, and even extends to the time Cassie got her first job at a bookstore, in which her mom only left after taking a gazillion pictures of the young girl stacking books. Prom pictures were justified, but Cassie was still annoyed. "Why the hell do you guys look so stiff. James, put your arm around her." Cassie noticed James hesitate for a second, before wrapping his arm around her waist. She ignored his hesitance, and smiled for the picture.

"Your dates are here." Cassie's dad told them, walking into the living room. Following behind him was the tall blonde. Cassie thought he looked really good. Hotter than usual. Jasmine entered behind Collin. She stopped at the doorframe, and the shorter girl's smile instantly fell. Jasmine looked pretty. Her hair was up, and in it held a little tiara. She wore a purple gown, which she knew would sparkle bright under the lights. Her look was calculated, with a lot of time spent. Cassie's seemed effortless, and Jasmine loathed that.

"Wow." Collin muttered, looking Cassie up and down. She couldn't stop herself from blushing.

"Thank you, I think?"

"That's exactly what James said." Cassie's mother stated happily. Jasmine rolled her eyes before speaking to James.

"You look really handsome." She smiled. He glanced at her, before focusing his attention back on Cassie.

"Yeah- you too." He stated. Jasmine scoffed, as he walked past her to talk to Cassie and Collin.

"You look beautiful, Jasmine." Betsy told the girl.

"Thanks." She replied, before Betsy walked over to Cassie's mom. "At least someone thinks so." She muttered, crossing her arms, watching the interaction between the three. It was as if there was a fight for Cassie's affection. Once again this was 'A Midsummer's Night Dream', and Cassie was the leading lady.

A horn from outside of the house honked, and it was a sign that the limo had arrived.

"One more picture of all of you." Corrine, Cassie's mom, demanded. The four teenagers got closer together. Collin was next to Cassie, who was next to James, who was next to Jasmine. The four smiled for the camera, before another honking occurred. Jasmine then noticed James's hand upon Cassie's waist. Collin's hands were tucked away in his pockets. Jasmine stood right next to James, but felt as though she was dateless.

"Okay, okay, mom. We got to go." Cassie pleaded.

"You kids go have fun." Betsy smiled, grabbing the camera away from Cassie's mother kind heartedly. She snapped another picture quickly as well, causing Corinne to laugh. The four began to make their way towards the front door.

"Not too much fun. She needs to be back by 1:30." Cassie's dad told Collin. Collin was clearly intimidated by the older man, and nodded. Cassie rolled her eyes, beginning to push her date closer and closer to the door.

"Of course, sir." He told him quickly before exiting the house.

"Same goes for you, James. Jasmine needs to be home by that time." James's dad told him.

"Yeah-yeah. She will." James shrugged him off. The kids walked off to their limo, as the adults stood by the door and watched them get settled into the stretched car. Once the door closed, Collin quickly pulled out a flask.

"Who's ready for the best fucking prom night ever?" He toasted, raising the metal flask into the air.  The four of them cheered. Little did they know they were in for one hectic prom night.
