12. Not Today

A rhythm of blood,
a whisper of frost.
And a tapping, tapping -
silence.

A sighing of love,
a singing of death,
And a frozen, frozen -
heartbeat.

A ghostly choir -
"Why do you murmur?"
A ghostly warning -
"Away from me, despaired,
away."

An answer that weeps,
a silence that screams.
And a clawing, clawing -
heartbreak.

A question that faints,
a contact that numbs,
And a dying, dying -
spirit.

A ghostly vision -
"Do not be fading"
A ghostly fortune -
"Come not to us, dear one,
not today."

So yeah, that's that. The last sad one, though I guess it ended on a happier note. I'm not sure if you can tell what it's about. It might require a bit of thinking, but basically, this poem's supposed to be about someone who wants to die, only to be brought "back to life" by these imaginary whispering ghosts. It's creepy and depressive, but it's also rather interesting.

Anyways, thanks!
