11. The Phoenix Game

Blazing with passion and fanning the flames,
This is the dance of the phoenix unnamed.
Crashing and burning for greater acclaim,
This is the life that is played like a game.

Flaring in public then fleeing the scene,
This is the stride of a new beauty queen.
Flaunting and winking for each shiny screen,
This is the life that is more than it seems.

Stating support and then dishing the blame,
This is the walk that long became lame.
Laughing and lying for personal aims,
This is the life that is less than it claims.

Dressing with diamonds and kissing for gain,
This is the show of a vow made in vain.
Eating and drinking to numb later pain,
This is the life that is foolishly chained.

Living in circles and spinning along,
this is the dance of when she was young.
Twisting and turning what's right into wrong,
This is the life of the saddest of songs.

***

She stares into the sunset that stole her youthful years
and mourns for the tears.
She feels the fire fade away
and wonders why it is this way.
Why must immortality die
and the phoenix turn to ash?
And now, they will be swept away.

Just a really cool idea that I had a while ago. (By the way, this isn't meant to be insulting to like famous people or whatever - it's just an example of what could happen.)
