Sorry for the late update, I've been so caught up with school and work that I couldn't keep on writing until now. The following chapter includes a Gotham reference, so: possible spoiler alert! Also, this got a little dark at the end, I hope it isn't too dark... Enjoy, and if you have any requests or ideas do let me know.
Warnings: threats? I guess, but nothing serious
Word Count: 926Not more than a couple of hours ago, you'd found yourself exiting an government building after a heated discussion about Arkham and Lex and how those last two words should never be on the same sentence.
After the incident with Superman, Lex had been declared "unfit" to stand trial and had been sentenced to Arkham Asylum all out of the goddamn asylums.
You suspected a certain playboy who liked to dress up as a bat at night had something to do with this so you made a mental note to blackmail him later. However that wasn't possible because on that same moment, someone thought it would be a great idea to kidnap you.
As typical kidnappings go, some stranger came up behind you, covered your nose and mouth with a damp cloth and took you somewhere else while you lost consciousness; but unlike the past times you'd been through this:
There was no one to save you.* * *
Who knows how much time later, you woke up in the middle of a meeting room or something like that. Surprisingly enough, you weren't bound in any way, not even your mouth was covered in duck tape or anything. You thought of running to the exit, but even if you managed it, you guessed that the only other two people in the room with you would very likely stop you."Hello, Mrs. Luthor" a blonde woman with what seemed to be an owl mask covering her features greeted you. Although she tried to make her voice sound kind, all you could feel was the coldness in it. "Welcome."
An owl mask? That was new. Nonetheless you tried to seem unimpressed "judging by the mask, I assume you're not going to tell me who you are so: what do you want?""Straight to business, huh?" The owl woman said "I like you already, Y/N"
You wanted to reply with some sarcastic remark but held yourself back. You still had no idea who these people were or what they would do to you."It's about Lex, Y/N" she said.
"Of course it is," you replied. Everything was about him lately. "Please... don't hurt him."
She looked at you for a second, almost pitifully "hurt him? Oh, no, no, my dear. I wouldn't dream of it"
You looked at her too, rather surprised.
"We need him, Y/N" she said "and we need you too."
This cryptic conversation was becoming tedious and finally you'd have had enough of it. In complete frustration you rolled your eyes and slammed your fist against the large wooden table "the hell is that supposed to mean?" You cried. The woman with the mask didn't even flinch at the sudden noise that filled the room, the man by her side didn't even seemed to have noticed.
"Now, now. Y/N, I wouldn't startle myself so much if I were you" she smirked "not on your condition anyway"What?
The woman signaled to the man behind you and he walked to one side of the room and returned to stand at the woman's side, handing her a paper envelope that she then passed on to you.
You grabbed it hesitantly and turned it around, revealing the logo of Metropolis General Hospital and your name beneath it. You didn't need to open it to know its contents but still you did.
You'd thought that the reason you were feeling nauseous earlier was the horrid smell of that bag they'd put on your head, but now you weren't so sure.
You opened the envelope, read the paper inside and confirmed what deep inside you already knew."Congratulations." The woman smirked, you could feel the mock in her tone.
"Go to hell." You turned the sheet into a ball and tossed it on the table, inhaling sharply and trying to fight back tears."What do you want?"The blonde lady paid no mind to the paper ball and looked at you, her face turning serious.
"As I said before: we have plans for Lex and those plans do not include you. Neither of you.
You are the only thing Lex Luthor cares about, Y/N. The only thing that we can use to control him. And for our purposes we can't have that." She said "You see, if he is to comply with our expectations there can't be anything to stop him."
"What?" You couldn't believe it. "What are you talking about? Lex is not some toy you can play with!
Contrary to popular belief: Lex is not a monster, but for your own personal gain you'll turn him into one!"
The image of Lex dressed in his orange prison uniform, his head completely shaved and looking at you through the bars of his cell while he tried to assure you that everything would be okay came to your mind. You broke."Cry as much as you want, Y/N." She scolded, clearly losing her patience. "We have arranged for you to stay in Gotham from now on. You and your child will be well looked after, that I guarantee."
You gazed at her with fire in your eyes as the man who'd brought you here in the first place wrapped his hand around one of your arms, pulling you away. You tried to resist but didn't find the strength to do so.You were almost at the door when the woman called after you one last time.
"By the way, Y/N: if you ever come near Lex again." She paused, "You and your child won't live to regret it."
