The soft light of the sunset illuminated her delicate skin as she tried to tuck a strand of her golden locks behind her ear.
His eyes refused to look away, as if she was drawn by a master artist.
She struggled to put the books in her bag, the old book was heavy, full of pages, some were torn and detached from the book. It slipped from her small hands and fell on the floor, scattering quite a few pages here and there. "Oh no..." her quite, sweet voice came as a hushed melody that broke the silence of the library, it made his elven ears twitch.
She knelt down, her golden strands sliding down her shoulders and gathering across her face as she quickly picked up the pages, gently putting them back into the book.
"Jaina..." Kael sighed in admiration as the human mage stood up and kept the book on the table. She picked up her bag and took long strides to exit the library, seemingly forgetting to take the book she just picked up.Prince Kael noticed that she forgot to take her book, he saw this as a chance to introduce himself to her. The prince stood up, his robes and cape flowing around him as he took long, graceful strides and picked up her book, as he exited the library to look for her.
"She hasn't gone far" a smile appeared on his lips as he saw Jaina walking to the end of the hallway.
Kael made his strides swifter as he saw she took another route. Finally when he arrived, he was shocked and he felt his heart ached.
The ever so innocent and sweet Jaina locked her lips with the prince of Lordaeron, Arthas.
Kael dropped the book and with sadness, anger and a broken heart he walked away from the scene.Hours later, Prince Kael'thas stood at the rooftop of the Violet Citadel. The horrible scene crossing his mind over and over again.
"Arthas... he had her filthy hands all over her..." his brows frowned, his blood boiled in anger and his fist clenched. His long nails dug into his skin, causing blood to drip from the wound. But his wrath was ruling over for him to feel anything
"Anar'alah!" A familiar voice spoke in surprise. Prince Kael looked behind him to find a tall, and beautiful high elf woman running up to him. He then realised the sharp pain in his palm
"What have you done to yourself?!" She was in utter disbelief as she stood beside him, taking his hand gently in hers
"(Y/n)... it's nothing..." Kael tried to hide the pain but he couldn't.
He was in awe as (y/n) ripped the end part of her long, netherweave robe and bind it gently and carefully around the bleeding wound. She murmurs something in thalassian as her (h/c) hair flew softly and her lidded (e/c) eyes glowing in arcane magic.
Kael was dumbfounded by such beauty this maiden emanated by such simple casting of this healing spell, he stared at her in awe.
"There..." she quietly said, unfolding the cloth from his wound that was now gone.
"I'm grateful, (y/n)..." Kael replied, quickly looking at his hand and smiling at you. You were his childhood friend, you two joined the academy together but he never thought like this about you. Maybe it was the trying of covering the newly given heartbreak or maybe it forever existed, without him ever knowing? He couldn't answer that.
"Are you...okay, Prince Kael?" You asked him, detecting the sadness in his eyes.
Kael explained her many times to just call him by his name but she wouldn't listen, perhaps she prides her manners.
"Oh (y/n) what would happen to me?..." Kael'thas tried to fake a smile
"As far as I know, no "okay" person would just dig their nails into their own skin like that..." she asked, worrying.
The prince laughed "I wasn't looking at what I was doing, I believe you can overlook this small mistake your friend made?" Kael'thas smiled warmly at her, holding her shoulders.
You smiled back at him "wow, you already know that I'm going to berate you for being careless!"
The elves laughed upon remembering how you would always get mad whenever he accidentally hurt himself or anyone and tell him how careless he is. Prince Kael decided to keep the happy mood and took you to the gardens to study mana thistles, your kind and lighthearted presence would always keep him joyful."I'm sorry Kael...but my studies come first..." Jaina shook her head, clutching her book in her hand and walking away from him. "You broke my heart again...Jaina..." Prince Kael stood in disbelief as the woman he always loved, just...walk away from him. "Your studies?...Arthas comes first not your studies" Kael stormed away from the arcane study area and walked straight to his chambers.
Kael'thas enter his room, and lock the door behind him before falling into a chair with his hand clutching his forehead. His blonde, straight hair gather at his face and his emerald eyes staring at the maroon carpet of his room. The hurtful thoughts of Jaina storming in his mind and his heart drowning in grief. Tears began to form in his eyes, as he clenched his teeth in anger. In all of this stress of the human mage, he had completely forgotten that he called (y/n) in his room to study together.
Kael quickly looked up to find you kneeling in front of him, staring at him with sadness and awe in your eyes, your delicate hand resting on his.
Without a second thought, he stood up as you did and pulled you into his embrace. Weeping on your shoulder, holding your waist tightly. You could feel his chest shaking as did his arms.
You closed your eyes, gently patting him on the back of his head and combing your fingers through his golden, silky hair.
"She...I..." Kael tried to speak
"Shh... it's okay" you replied quietly, as you rubbed his back, trying to calm him.
Kael lifted his head from your shoulders, as he looked at you with his emerald eyes glistening with tears.
You wipe the tears that are running down his gaunt cheeks, softy smiling at him and gently place a kiss on his forehead.
Kael knew you two were just dear friends but today he wasn't the calm, collected and regal prince you know him as... he needs you more than ever.
Kael looks deeply in your eyes as his hand touch your cheek, "so delicate, so pretty..." he place his head on yours, as both of you close your eyes. Slowly you felt him nearing you, as your breath danced against his. His fingers tuck a strand of hair behind your ear, as his thumb stroke your jawline before holding your neck to pull you closer to him. His lips almost touch yours, before he pulls himself back "what am I doing..."
You glanced at him as he had completely stepped back from you
"I'm sorry (y/n) I was distracted and I was... I apologise if I have offended you" Kael said, looking at you with an apologetic expression
You took a deep breath, as you gave him your hearty smile "no need to apologise, it h-happens... well I guess I'm just going to my room then, I'll see you tomorrow my Prince" You replied, trying to sound as normal as possible.
You walked past him "I wish you were my prince" your smile disappeared just as you walked out of his room.
"I wish we were more than just friends" Kael sighed, still thinking about your sweet smell as you stood ever so close to him. That night didn't harm your friendship in anyway, as you could tell by his usual personality again in the following weeks. Everything was fine but then, the scourge attacks on Quel'thalas forced him and you to leave Dalaran. You were by his side when he gathered his remaining people, and advised him when needed.
After taking refuge with the humans, Kael and (y/n) arrived near the half destroyed human cities. Tasked with fixing the observatories.
Kael'thas stood by the sea, the waves crashing at his feet and eyes fixated on the golden clouds left by the sunset.
"Greetings Prince Kael..." that same melodic voice
"(Y/n), Ishnu-dal dieb.." he smiled at you as you walked up to him and stood beside him.
Your long (h/c) hair flowing in the light breeze
"The undead laid a difficult siege on us... I'm afraid for your well-being my friend.." you said worrying but stared at the waves to hide them
"Whoever is fated to fall in this siege, shall fall.." Kael sighed as he glanced at the outlying bases of scourge
"...before any of us falls, I desire to let you know my feelings.." You turned to him, only to find him looking at you, confused.
You quickly walked close to him and as you placed your lips on his, shutting your eyes and feeling the kiss before you quickly let him go and tried to walk away from him.
You felt a soft but firm grip on your wrist, you looked back as Kael pulled you to him by your waist and crushing his lips on yours, caressing your cheek as both of you wrap each other into a loving embrace. After that sweet confession, you and him fought the scourge and led the blood elves to safety.
Years later, Prince Kael'thas stood at the crystalline roof of Tempest Keep. Stood by his side was you, his ever dear (y/n).
"Since there's a long time left for the forces to arrive, may I?" Kael smiled at you, stretching his hand out to you
You quietly chuckled "a dance?"
"I love the atmosphere around us.. and you" Kael smiled.
Taking his hand, you two slowly danced. Eyes locked up with each other, pushing back all the heartache and sadness of Dalaran...
