Horde and Alliance, two completely different factions, rival factions to be precise. They will not refrain from attacking each other on sight, and the battle will go on until either one of them dies. The victor will tell tales of his or her victory, keep a souvenir or worse, cut off the defeated's head and show it off as a sign of their victory.
Sure they have set aside their hatred at times and fought as one for defeating a common enemy but they are usually at each other's throats. This includes invading each other's lands and slaughtering the rivaling faction's people by whatever means necessary.
One such was assassinations. Yes, sneaking up behind the enemy and slicing off the jugular, a quick and silent death.
The female assassin (y/n) was such an assassin, she was from the Alliance faction and thus was ordered to assassinate the troll chieftain Vol'jin.

The last known location of Vol'jin was around the Echo Isles, he himself was fighting a war to reclaim his land.
"This would prove a perfect opportunity for his death" (y/n) slyly smiled as she saw the troll chieftain taking the fight to the Isles. Of course the (race) assassin never really saw him or knew him well but the way he walked and spoke, made her respect him.
The female assassin realized that Vol'jin was very lightly armored, that made him an easy target but on the other hand the way his toned physique was revealed made her blush at times.
However, she moved and sometimes lingered in the shadows, quieter than a tigress hunting for her prey. Just waiting for the right opportunity to strike, just waiting for him to be alone.

For what seemed like an eternity, the troll chieftain was finally alone. (Y/n) smiled under her mask and produced an arrow in her bow, pointing at the chieftain. The assassin took a deep breath and steadied her aim... before releasing the arrow.
For a split second she thought her job was done, the arrow had struck him. But no, it did not. Instead she noticed that Vol'jin had caught her arrow and was looking at the tree from where the arrow came from.
The female missed the spear he threw at her by just an inch but escaping his attack, revealed her to him.
"Ahh! Look what we got 'ere! A sneaky 'ssassin!" Vol'jin said as he saw her jumping out from the tree and landing in front of him.
The (race) woman did not say anything and brandished her daggers at him
"So ya wish to dance eh?" The chieftain grinned as he began to block and deflect any attacks that she might attempt on him.
"Damn it! He's no easy target... I underestimated him..." (y/n) began to regret her choices from earlier and being distracted in her thoughts, caught her off guard.
Vol'jin soon grabbed hold of her wrist and slammed her against the very same tree. The female groaned in pain and tried to free herself as the chieftain began to remove her mask.
"And 'tis a woman... how lovely" he said with a playful smirk, as he slammed his arm on the tree and thus blocking her escape.
"Let. Me. Go" (y/n) demanded with a frown even though she was afraid in her heart
"Go? Ah lass, how 'bout I say no?... aye that rhymes" Vol'jin chuckled at his own jest
"I knew it that I'd have to come across such a situation... so I took precautions. Keep an eye open, you can't say which breath will be your last now that I've got my eyes on you" (y/n) challengingly smiled
"Now don start sayin those" he grabbed her face a bit harshly "you be too lovely to threaten a monster like me" he said in a low raspy voice.
The female gave one last frown before tendrils of magic caused her to disappear.
Even though they both threatened and attempted attacks on each other that day, they both grew a strange longing for each other.

They never really met each other again, even though it was difficult. However she did appear at the battle of Broken Shore, and this time determined to kill him.
(Y/n) didn't had any wish to do so, but orders are orders and maybe after this battle she would never be able to forgive herself again. The female felt silly but it would appear she was in love at first sight with the troll chieftain Vol'jin and what felt more stranger was that happened at a time when she was assigned to kill him.
The female assassin quietly watched from the shadows as the troops steeled themselves against the battle of the Burning Legion, and there was he, at a far distance bravely giving a speech to his warriors.
(Y/n)'s (e/c) eyes were darkened by the shadow of grief. But it was not the time to mourn, it'd only make her distracted and besides demons were around, being distracted wouldn't be the best idea at this moment.
Everything was ready for the assassination, and the battle between the Horde and the demons had begun already. (Y/n) moved in the shadows as she grew yet closer to the chieftain, only unknown to her that what horrors were about to befall her.
The assassin didn't even got a moment to prepare her daggers and plan a swift attack, just then a scream came to her ears. The woman was horrified to find Vol'jin stabbed with a fel spear, wounded and dying by the demon magic.
Forgetting all about her orders she kneeled down to the chieftain, sobbing and clutching his hand
"No! How could I let this happen?!" she stared at Vol'jin with horrified expressions
"i-is that y-you?... t-the assassin from the i-isles " Vol'jin looked up at her, both happy and surprised as if the pain and agony from the wound had vanished.
(Y/n) weakly nodded, tears running down her face as she sobbed silently. The woman was surprised as she felt his hand gently wiping her tears and weakly smiling at her
"d-don't cry pretty lady... it don't suit yer pretty face" he tried to comfort her but it was no mistaking that his life was ebbing away... and (y/n) could do nothing about it "b-before the Horde's warriors show up here... w-what be your name, lady?" Vol'jin asked
"I-I... am (y/n)" she forced the words out of her throat, the pain was too much to speak through
"(Y/n)? What a pretty name... a pretty name for a pretty lady..." he gently laughed and caressed her cheek.
(Y/n)'s heart broke as she cried hugging his arm but soon had to leave since the warriors from the rivaling faction were running towards Vol'jin.

That day the Horde lost their chieftain, but what (y/n) lost was nothing compared to that, she lost what she would call a love... if Vol'jin was alive, she was sure he would name it that way as well....
