I was early for history class this morning for the first time this year. Jordan, Mackenzie, Alice and I sat in the back. Mr. Matthews hadn't even arrived yet. Soon the bell rang and everyone was in their seats but still no sign of our teacher. I wondered if he would even show up today.
"Is it really ok for you to be here?" Jordan whispered to Alice.
"Jordan has a point." I said. "Our teacher for this class is Mr. Matthews. Isn't he kind of after you?" I asked Alice.
"Mackenzie is here too. I'm safe if I stick with her." said Alice.
"That's right. I'll protect you." Mackenzie said.
"Would you really fight Mr. Matthews?" Jordan asked.
"In his own classroom?" I asked.
"I doubt it will come to that. I'll have to keep an eye on him, that's all." she explained. I don't think he'll do anything in the light of day where everyone can see. There are too many witnesses in this classroom." she said.
"Yeah, I think you're right." I said.
"Oh wow. There he is." Jordan said as Mr. Matthews entered the room. He glared at me when he saw Alice by my side.
"It's ok. We got you." Jordan whispered to me.
"Thanks." I said back.
