Part 104: Memory From Another Life

I sat with Mackenzie and Casper in Mackenzie's apartment. We all sat on her couch and sipped coffee.

"Nora," she said to me as she put her mug down. "If those are the terms you want in exchange for powers than the whole universe would change."

"I understand." I said. I had just told her what I was about to ask for from Alice when I became a demon hunter.

"I'm not sure if you do." Mackenzie said. "If you make a deal like that then your soul as well as all the other hunters would be trapped in Hell with the demons. You would never be able to see your family again." Mackenzie explained. "It's not something you can turn back on. This sort of thing is eternal."

"I'm fine with that." I said. "I think that's what it means to be a demon hunter, to sacrifice yourself in order to save others. I'm just one person. I don't thin my soul matters in the grand scheme of things."

"Same here." Casper said before taking another sip of coffee. "I agree with Nora on this one." Casper said to Mackenzie. "I mean we're all fighting for the same things, right? We've already decided that we'd fight together until the very end. So, I guess I wouldn't mind being trapped in Hell with you guys. All you have to do, Nora, is follow through with your dream, and then the whole world will be saved."

"Of course I'll follow through!" I said.

"I guess I'm in too." Mackenzie said. "Let's save the world together." I smiled at them. They were willing to sacrifice their souls for the universe. "Nora, if this wish is granted the world won't need people like us anymore, so I guess its fine. There is no other person I'd rather be trapped with than you."

"I'll follow you into the depths of Hell." Casper said. The room began to fade. It was like a dream. "I'm glad that I met you." was the last thing I heard Casper say as he disappeared. Suddenly I was back in the moment where I stood before Alice.
