It was early afternoon and the two of us had washed the stretch of blood from our bodies, having done this too many times for my liking I had suggested we get dressed up nicely and not shoot anyone at the restaurant we're going to. Jerome was slightly hesitant to the plan but it didn't take much for me to persuade him into thinking otherwise.

My dress was beautiful and pure white, which had been the main reason I had wanted it to be a blood free meal because the dress itself was exceptionally expensive. Jerome adorned a sleek black suit that he had found in the depth of the wardrobe back in my apartment. It fit him surprisingly well considering it wasn't his and damn did it make him took good. We complimented each other perfectly, like a ying yang due to my black shoes and his white tie. To people who hadn't heard of us you'd think we were a perfect couple.

We'd gotten the car cleaned since our last outing and the interior was now spotless, we found an adorable restaurant owned by a cute little Italian family that didn't speak much English, perfect. They had absolutely no clue who we were and welcomed us as if we were family. It was refreshing honestly, to not be treated as if we were outlaws. The staff were lovely and I even think I saw Jerome smile a little, not in its usual manner but a small, genuine smile that really lit up his face.

"Ciao! What can I get for you." The waitress, who looked to be a granddaughter of the two behind the counter.

"Just water for now." I answered her and Jerome asked for the same, she nodded with a dazzling smile and hurried back into the kitchen. "Isn't she adorable?" I mused and Jerome's lips tugged into a smug smirk.

"Got a thing for chicks?" He says, his eye brows wiggling suggestively.

"Dunno yet, I mean have you seen some of the girls in Gotham? They'd give you a run for your money." His lips twitched slightly before the girl came back with the waters and I took a sip from the glass, my dark red lipstick staining the glass.

"Do they now? Should I be worried?" He'd returned back into his playful manner and I laughed at him.

"Absolutely." I replied with a sly grin but he just laughed at my attempt to make him jealous. The waitress took our food orders and left us alone at the small table, the two of us joking and laughing at one another. "Oh that reminds me!" I exclaimed in realization "You called me girlfriend." I taunted him.

"And you killed a guy, it was an eventful day." He tried to brush it off but I wasn't letting go that easy.

"Just admit you want me to be your girlfriend." I sighed leaning back in my chair. "I mean we act like we're already married so what's the big deal?"

"I guess you're right, hey you wanna be my girlfriend?" He asked nonchalantly.

"My oh my how romantic, I could just swoon." I dramatically put my hand on my forehead.

"Hey we're on a date right now what else is more romantic?"

"This is a date?" I questioned, the familiar swarm of butterflies began their usual flutter in my stomach.

"What else did ya think it was? We certainly ain't friends, not after the other night." My face heated up and I tried to over it with my hair. "Ooh you're blushing, man you look like a chameleon." He laughed at me and I shook my head at him in mock annoyance.

"You're right, well look at us. Gotham city's very own Crime Couple, I can see the headlines now." I sighed dreamily and he seemed to be doing the same. The girl had come back with our food, mine a plate of pasta and Jerome a pizza and the food was probably the best I'd ever tasted. We dug in, me offering some of my pasta and getting a slice of pizza in return neither of us spoke as we ate the first decent meal we'd had for quite a while.

"Arkham's got nothing on this." Jerome stated after we'd finished.

"Agreed, we can't kill these ones, they have far too much to offer the world." The family shot me a friendly smile from behind the counter.

"I guess they don't have to die." He mused but I knew he didn't want to kill them either.

"Great, shall we? I wanna get some gelato to go and hang out in the hotel for the night." I proposed and he looked pleased with the suggestion.

"Sounds perfect." He offered his hand to me and I grasped it as we made our way to the front of the restaurant to pick out the gelato we wanted.

"Have you enjoyed your night?" A lady who looked to be the mother asked us, kind eyes and a warm smile practically screamed inviting.

"It was lovely thank you so much, the food and service was wonderful." I answered for the both of us, very familiar with the type of exchange through my father's work events. "We were just going to get some gelato to go if that's ok?"

"Of course bella!" She moved behind the gelato machine, Jerome and I ordered the flavours we wanted and she scooped them into the cones, handing them to us and we accepted gratefully. She calculated our total for the night and I pulled out my purse, placing $500 on the counter.

"Keep the change, have a lovely night." Her face lit up and she attempted to hand me back the money, insisting that it was too much but Jerome assured her that it was fine and we left, the entire family thanking us profusely on the way out.

We made the small walk to our car, ice cream cones still in hand and content smiles gracing our lips. I was about to get into the car when Jerome stopped me. "I don't think the night's over just yet." He nodded to the beautiful hill behind me, I nodded excitedly, hurriedly taking my heels off and tossing them in the car.

I turned around only for Jerome to throw me over his shoulder, my ice cream nearly dropping but I saved it. "Jerome what the hell?" I giggled in surprise, my dress was slightly riding up but there was nobody around anyway so it didn't matter. Jerome began to walk up the hill, trying to make me drop my ice cream but I was better than that and it made it to the top unscathed. He flopped me back onto my feet and laying on the ground. "Jerome my dress is white." I complained.

"Just lay on top of me then." I took it as an invitation and curled right beside him, his suit jacket stopping my dress from staining. We layed there far a while, my arms around him, his body heat keeping me warm as we stared at the stars.

"We are unbelievably corny right now." I laughed and he joined me, my face buried into his neck and his hand lacing through my hair.

"You wanted romance, you know I don't like to disappoint." I placed a kiss in the crook of his neck and he kissed me on the forehead.

"You certainly don't disappoint." I mumbled.

"Kat you know I love you right? I mean, you aren't allowed to die on me again. No more pranks." His voice held a complete seriousness.

"I love you too, I wont be dying for a while I hope." His lips twitched up again and I giggled.

"Good." We continued like that for an hour or so, the minutes all blurring together, our gelatos had been disregarded long before and everything was peaceful until my ringtone cut through the air.

"Sorry babe." I apologized before answering the unfamiliar number. "Hello?"

"Kat? It's Bruce." His voice rang through the line. Why would he be calling me?

"Bruce?" I questioned, not too sure if it really was him.

"Yes, look I'm just-" Before he could continue whatever stupid excuse I interrupted him.

"What's going on Bruce?" I asked abruptly.

"It's Selina, she's in trouble." My blood ran cold and my hand began to violently shake.

"I'm on my way."
