After twenty minutes of sitting in the car in dead silence, I finally spoke up.

"I'm sorry reacted the way I did" I cleared my throat.

I glanced over at her and noticed that she squeezed the steering wheel tighter and exhaled.

"No, I'm the one that should be sorry. It was my fault. Back in school I should've said something. But instead I ran away from my problems. And even when we started dated again I should've mentioned it. But I was scared. I was scared as hell" she confessed shrugging her shoulders.

"But Nish come on nah? You know me. You know I'm not even that type of guy! All you had to do was tell me that you might be pregnant. I would've been there for you." I shook my head.

"Yeah, but then things would've been different..." she trailed her words off.

And I knew exactly what she was referring to.

Jazmine.

"Nah, I think things would've worked out the way the did." I laughed some.

"Regardless your mom was going to make you come home to have the baby! Jazmine and I were already talking at that point. So nah, things would've still been the way they turned out now. I just would've had my son, and possibly got him the medicine and proper care he needed." I shook my head.

"I think that's what mad me so upset with you" I clenched my jaw looking over at her.

"What you mean?"

"This boy has suffered for how many years? When all you had to do was tell me from the jump or when he was first diagnosed." I continues to stare her down.

Small tears started to trickle down her face.

"For years I was depressed because I just didn't know how you would react Odell, I swear I didn't just not wanna tell you!" She cried harder.

I sighed and reached over to grab her hand.

"The point is now I'm here, I don't care how much it costs. I'm here Nish" I comforted her.

She sniffled and I took my hand away.

"Thank you Dell"

"Your people here?" I asked as we rode the elevator.

She sighed and rolled her eyes.

"Yes. Please don't my mom any mind. You know how she can be" she shook her head.

I chucked and stuffed my hands in my pocket.

Oh her moms a bitch. Probably one of the rudest women I've ever met. She never liked me. Probably because I remind her so much of her first husband who ran off because she so crazy.

He played pro ball once upon a time too. So that made her hate me even more.

I walked off the elevator I saw her Mom. I sighed and approached her.

"Hey Mrs. Taylor" I smiled some.

Before I would even greet her husband, she slapped the dog shit outta me

"WHAT THE FUCK" I roared.

"Took you long enough" she scoffed.

"Lady!! I just found it about him! So talk to your daughter! And don't ever put your hands on me again!" I clenched my jaw. This old lady want her wig snatched, quit playing with me!

"Ma!! I told you not to be on that bullshit!" She rolled her eyes pulling me into the room where Omar was.

"Mommy?" He spoke out coughing a little.

I couldn't hold in the tears. He looks just like me, wow. Just wow. I'm lost for words.

"Hi Baby!" Nish smiled walking past me to him. I slowly made my way towards him and his face lit up.

"Ma you got OBJ to come visit me? Super cool!" He smiled wide.

Nish and I looked at each other and sighed.

"Kind of baby, it's a little more to it" she trailed her words off.

I could see her about to cry so I came and tapped her shoulder.

"Give us a minute?" I raised my eyebrow glancing at Omar who was staring at me.

She wiped tears and ran out the room.

I sighed and pulled up a chair next to him.

I hope this goes well...
