Juuzou and his Princess: Investigation 1

Official papers were scattered all over your kitchen table. After changing your names, you'd had to have all your IDs and information changed as well.

You stared at Rei's new ID card.

"Juuzou Suzuya... "

[Flash back]

"[Y/n], look at this!!! " Rei waved his new ID in front of your eyes.

"Everyone has to call me Juuzou now! "

"You went by your scrapper name? "

"Yup~" the white haired male nodded enthusiastically "I bet Mama would be really happy if she knew! "

"I'm Shinohara Yukinori"

"I'm [y/n] [l/n]" you spoke to the kind- looking man I in front of you.

"I'm Juuzou Suzuya. "

"It's nice to meet you! " you and Rei say together.

"Same here. " the man said, smiling.

//Flashback end//

As you stared at the ID card, your expression turned into a pout.

"No fair~" you heard your friend say as he poked your cheek "pouting is my thing. "

You spun the card in your hand silently, staring at the unfamiliar jumble of letters.

"Are you feeling okay? " he sounded genuinely concerned.

"What do I call you now ? "

The words came out of your mouth before you could stop them.

"Huh? " the albino looked lost.

"All these years you've been Rei to me, but I guess I'll have to call you Juuzou now..."

It was just a name, but you couldn't help but feel sad about it. The name Rei had held so much meaning for you and you couldn't help but feel empty at the thought of not being able to use it anymore.

The white haired male reflected on your words before he spoke.

"You can call me Rei. "

"Can I really? " you weren't expecting this.

He nodded his head with a reassuring smile. "Of course you can! "

"Only you though... " Rei spoke more quietly this time and you thought you spotted a tinge of pink on his cheeks.

You swung your legs back and forth as you sat on the trash bin with Rei.
Every time you "found" a wallet, you've made it a ritual to go through the contents inside it together.

The ritual was now occurring in a quiet alleyway.

"Whose wallet did we steal this time?"

"Kaneki Ken. " your friend read from the ID card "He's my age. "

You picked up the cards Rei left on the ground.

"These cards might be important, do you think we ought to return them? "

Your friend thought for a while before answering.

"Nah. "

You counted the banknotes in the albino's hand.

"3,000 yen. "

"That's not enough to buy any good food. " your friend was visibly disappointed.

You and Rei started to make your way home when you heard the footsteps of a group of people following you.

"Rei... " you started to warn the boy next to you, but there was no need. The leader of the group had spoken up from behind you.

"You sure smell good for a pair of pick pockets."

The leader's eyes turned black and his red pupils focused on you and your friend.

"How about you let us have a taste? "
