You were so nervous. Today was your wedding and although, you couldn’t wait to be Mrs. Gabe Landeskog, you were freaking out about walking down the aisle. You had this issue where you get insanely nervous in front of big groups of people and you knew that you had to walk down the aisle with 300 people staring at you. Your stomach felt sick and you thought you were going to pass out just thinking about it.
“You ready, honey?” Your dad walks in the room smiling at you.
“Dad, I’m going to fall, I know it. I’m going to trip on my dress or something and I’m just going to face plant onto the ground. I can’t do this.” You said, your breathing uneven.
“Honey, look at me, you are going to be fine. If you fall, then you fall. You can tell your kids that you literally fell in love with Gabe all over again on your wedding day or something.” He said trying hard not to laugh.
You laughed at your dad and smiled, “Thanks, daddy. That made me feel better.” You took a deep breath and said, “Ok let’s go do this.”
“Let’s.” your father smiled as he extended his arm out to you for you to grab. You smooth your dress out one last time and grab onto your dads arm.
You got in behind all of your bridesmaids and you heard the music start. The big wooden doors opened in front of you and your bridesmaids started making their way down the aisle. Once they were all set in place it was your turn. You could barely hear the music over the sound of your pounding heart. You looked over at your dad before you started to walk.
“You ready, my love?” He asked quietly.
You smiled and shook your head yes. You and your dad started walking down the aisle and you heard gasps and awes from all of your friends and family. You were looking at the ground so you wouldn’t trip and you had only walked about three steps until you decided that you were going to look up at Gabe because that’s who you really wanted to see, not the worn red carpet of the church.
You slowly lifted your eyes to meet Gabe’s. He was looking at you so adoringly that it instantly took all your nerves away. You didn’t care if you tripped and fell because you knew that Gabe would catch you. You knew that he was the one you wanted to spend forever with and he didn’t mind if you got a little clumsy from time to time, in fact, he loved you for it.
Your eyes never left Gabe’s and he mouthed a “wow” to you as you were almost at the altar. That made you smile and blush deeply.
You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding in and when you got to the end of the aisle without tripping you gave yourself a little mental pat on the back.
You turned towards your dad and hugged him, “See, I told you you’d be fine. I love you, honey.” He whispered in your ear.
“I love you too, daddy.” You kissed him on the cheek and he handed you over to Gabe. He had this goofy smile on his face that he wore only when he was incredibly happy. You saw it mostly after he scores the winning goals in games.
“I love you.” He said quietly so only you could hear him.
You winked back at him and smiled. The priest began to speak and you only half listened to him. You were too lost in Gabe to pay attention to much else, but that was ok because Gabe seemed to be doing the same thing.
Eventually the time came for you to say your vows and Gabe of course made you cry. He wiped away the tears falling from your face with his thumb and whispered, “Don’t cry, beautiful.” As he looked at you with so much love you could burst.
Finally the priest said the famous words, “You may now kiss the bride.”
Gabe smiled at you and put his hands on the sides of your face. You both leaned in as you kissed for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Gabe Landeskog. It was a long sweet kiss, one the ended in your loved ones cheering and whistling. Gabe held onto you as you made your way back down the aisle and out the church doors to start your life with your one true love.
