(Henry never came into the picture. And this is years later, just fyi.)

(Third Person)

"Pip! Alex! Get down here for dinner!" John called out for his family. He made most of the meals,  but he was fine with that. He liked cooking anyway. He grinned as a nine-year-old boy ran into the dining room. "Well what took you so long, Philip?" he asked with a grin, ruffling his curly hair.

"I was writing a poem!"

"Oh, were you now? You're a poet now?"

"Mmhmm!"

"Well good for you. I wanna hear it later, alright?" When Philip nodded happily, John went to go get Alexander. "Alex. Food. Now."

"Can I finish this page?" he asked, looking up at John from his book.

"Nope. But I won't say no to you taking the book with you."

Alexander nodded and stood, keeping his eyes on the pages of his book as they joined Philip in the dining room. John dished the food out onto the plates as the three of them sat down.
