A/N: First of all, I'm so sorry I didn't update earlier :( I was sick last week. And even though I can make someone else update this chapter for me, I wasn't finished writing it yet. Anyway, TO THE FREAKING STORY!

20 - It doesn't matter
----- ----- -----

[Ally's POV]

Should I start from my mom calling me from downstairs to get the door?

Or should I get straight to the point where as I open the door and choke when I see who it is?

I think y'all prefer the latter.

So I opened the front door, and hey, guess who's standing there?

Elijah.

I used to daydream about this, about Elijah showing up on my door.

Take me on a date or something.

Then it hit me. He's not going to take me on a date, is he?

Is he.

"Hi, Ally," he smiles.

Freaking stupid cute smile --

"H-hi," I stammer. "What...what are you doing here, Elijah?"

His smile widens. [A/N: I'm putting a little smiley Elijah here to limit your imagination a little.]

Stop the freaking smiling thing, I think, but my stupid self can't help myself and smiled back

Stop the freaking smiling thing, I think, but my stupid self can't help myself and smiled back.

"I'm...taking you somewhere," he says, and before I can do anything, he grabs my arm and takes me to his car.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa," I protest, "you...you aren't kidnapping me, are you?"

He smirks. "I would never do that."

Well that's pleasing to know.

"But, I am taking you out to eat dinner tonight," he concludes.

My eyes widen as I slip in the passenger seat. "But we're having dinner at home, my mom doesn't know -- "

"I told her. Just chill for a moment," he reassures me, and I nod and sigh. I feel a little less nervous.

"Oh by the way, where's Ethan?" I glance at him, meeting his eye, but he doesn't meet mine.

In fact his face darkens, and he looks like that was the stupidest question ever asked since the time when dinosaurs were alive.

"He's...he's at home," Elijah replies. "It doesn't matter."

Oh. Okay, I guess.

"Why didn't you let him come, though?" Something tells me I should stop asking him questions about Ethan, but I just can't help myself.

He grits his teeth. Okay, I should've shut up.

"Because he just isn't!" he says, annoyed.

Well look at that. You just made him hate you.

Nice one, Ally. Nice one.

"Let's go back," he says suddenly, driving back to my house.

I'm startled. "Wait, but I thought -- "

"We'll do this next time," Elijah says. He turns to look at me and his face softens. "I'm -- I'm sorry. I just suddenly...."

I bite my lip. "You don't need to explain. It's fine, Elijah." I swallow before leaving his car.

I get inside the house and run up the stairs.

That's when I remember that it's a Friday. I pick up my phone and as expected, I see that I missed two phone calls from Kayleigh. I dial her number.

I don't even bother saying "Wazufghunufer." "He took me out," I just say.

Kayleigh gasps, "Who took you out?"

"Elijah did."

"Oh my god! What happened? Why didn't you text me? What the heck did you wear?"

"Kayleigh," I say slowly. "He hates me."

"What do you mean?"

"I'll tell you in person. Let's meet up somewhere tomorrow. Burger King at five?"

"Oh, okay."

I hang up.

A/N: Burger King again! I'm so sorry.
