Her long brown hair blew in the wind as he blue eyes looked out at the ocean in front of us. I admired her beauty as she just sat there.
"And," she looked away from the water to meet my eyes, "we didn't talk after that." Her eyes filled with sadness as she spoke about her ex best friend.
"It wasn't your fault y/n," I said honestly trying to convince her.
"It is Shawn, I had no right to say that to her ex boyfriend. I should of just kept my mouth closed." She said shaking her head as she played with her fingers in her lap.
"She shouldn't of been leading him on though, all you did was tell him that she might have a boyfriend, so that he would move on." I said letting a handful of sand fall through the gap in my hand.
"Maybe you're right," she said before letting a small sigh escape her mouth. "But my actions cost me a friendship." She said. For just a split second I thought I could see tears forming in her eyes, but she blinked them away.
"If she got pissed off at you for that, then she isn't a true friend." I said leaning back on my arms.
"After a couple of weeks of not talking, I would still look at her Snapchat stories and she would look at mine too. One day I looked at hers and noticed that she was starting to post stuff about her depression," she turned her body towards me, "she had been going to therapy and taking medicine because of it, and I was the only one besides her mom that knew about it. She would tell me all the shit she went through, and what her mom did to her to cause her to cut herself a lot." She shook her head and looked back at the ocean, "anyways, I texted her saying I was there for her if she needed anyone to talk to, and how I was sorry, but she just said something like if I was there for her I would of been there that whole time." This time a tear did slide down her cheek. She was quick to wipe it away, "after she said that I unadded her and gave up."
"My Mom once told me that the person that you think will be your best friend forever may end up being a stranger to you one day. Of course you would still know there dark secrets, keep the memories you two share, but they weren't meant to be in your life forever. They were just like," I paused looking for the right word, "someone you needed at the time. Someone that you trusted, and shared secrets with that you couldn't tell anybody else. You will both cherish those memories, but never make more." It was a brutal thing to say, but it was the truth.
"Shawn," she said in a raspy voice. My eyes drifted over to look at her, "I hope we don't end up like me and her. I hope we last," she said moving closer to me, "promise me we'll last Shawn, please just promise me." She said as tears fell from her eyes. My heart ached seeing her sad. I cupped her cheeks with my hands and used my thumbs to wipe away her warm tears.
"I promise darling."
Uh here's another reeeeaally bad imagine. The story is actually something that happened to me.
I guess some friendships aren't meant to last.
