~*~ Chapter Eight ~*~
The rest of the weekend went as planned, but when school started again that Monday, my friends and I had quite a shock.
"Did you hear about the wolves?" said my classmates.
"There was a shiney brown one in my yard!" apparently, the Subbie who was in my driveway didn't care who saw him, even if he was made of metal.
"This is bad," said Gale, which meant it was becuase Gale never got worked up over anything (another perk of being an Air Elemental is that they barely get upset or mad), "this Sub could very well get us exposed."
"I say we track him, find him, and beat the living crap outta him." said Amber, beginning to smoke.
"Aqua, will you please take her to the bathroom and cool her down?" I asked.
I had interupted Aqua's pulverizing a corndog. Without looking from it she said, "Okay, come on, Amber." and they walked off.
Gale's eyes followed them out of the cafateria door and he said, "What should we do?"
He was really getting worried. "I don't know. Amber's idea?" I said.
"Nah, it'd be too obvious that four kids would come after another like that. He's not stupid." Gale said, beginning to pick his fingernails.
"How do you know?"
"Know what? That he's not stupid?" he asked.
"Yeah." I said, taking a bite of salad.
"He escaped a fight against what? Six Elementals? And he came out completely unharmed." he said.
"True. From what I've heard people saying he's not hurt." I said.
"Exactly," Gale said, growing more anxious by the second, "Let's find him."
I had heard that a girl named Claudia in my homeroom had taken a picture of the Subbie in question. When it was time to head home for the day, I decided I would ask.
"Why should I help you, New Girl?" Claudia said, slamming her locker.
"Becuase I need help." I said. I didn't like Claudia. She seemed like one of those people who gives you a hard time just becuase the can.
"Look, New Girl, I'm not one for 'helping'." she said, slipping a piece of gum into her mouth.
"And what would persuade you otherwise?" I was getting tired of the 'New Girl' nickname.
"Twenty bucks and a giftcard to Dairy Queen." she didn't seem like the kind of person who liked Dairy Queen, either. In fact, she seemed like the 'starve myself to death' type judging by her waist which I could fit my hands around and still have them touch.
"Fine! Here's twenty," I said, taking a wad of cash out of my pocket, "I'll bring you the card tomorrow or Wednesday.
"What's your number? I'll just send you the pic." she said. Wow, all this for one photo.
So I got the picture and showed it to Gale, Amber and Aqua.
"When are we going?" asked Aqua.
"Tonight," I said with a devilish smile, "we're sneaking out."
