I was still crying, I think he knew only rubbing my back wouldn't help me at this moment. He tried another tactic, he started to talk to me. In the softest whispers, he gave me emotional support.
"It will be okay, I'll keep you safe Angel."
He rubbed my back more.
"If anything scares you, you can come to me. No one will hurt you- ever."
That last sentence helped me a lot. It did make me feel safe, and protected. I moved my head and rubbed my eyes, I had stopped crying after about five minutes. He placed his hands on my cheeks and wiped away my tears with his thumbs. He said it one last time for today.
"I'll keep you safe, Angel."
He kissed my forehead and moved out of the way to walk downstairs.
