 Chapter 21

It's been another week. I've only got one and half weeks left here! And it was true. . .I didn't want to go home. I felt guilty in a way. Sure I wanted to see Molly and dad but, it was great fun here. Of course I felt guilty! How could I not? I was not looking forward to seeing Michelle though. I did not feel guilty about that.

There were some things to look forward too as well. For Josh and Addie anyway. I wasn't sure about Riley, but tomorrow, Josh is probably going to get his brace off. That is if it has even healed at all. He did take it off a couple of times. Addie is going home at the same time as me. She didn't have as many weeks, but its good, since she probably wouldn't want to make any new friends. We had things in common anyway. Well, she would have had Riley. I wondered about him.

I've been helping Josh in the last couple of days. Sometimes, I gave him a little privacy and tried not to be too over protective. He talked to some mates. Everyone loved Josh, for his personality. . .and I suppose, yes, all the girls liked him too. And yes, it was true, everyone did know him.

Classes haven't been too bad. Josh has still been looking on with me. Lucky he doesn't have to write. I was jealous. We don't have classes today though, it's Saturday.

I had given him a couple more baths too. It was just the same routine as the first time we did it. He did fall asleep a couple of times again. . .and would not stop apologising for it.

I'm sitting at the breakfast table, all things I did in the past week, flooding my mind. Josh is calling my name.

"Scarlett?"

I look at him.

"Sorry,' I say. "Lost in -"

"Thought," he grins.

I nod. Just like what happened last week. Addie and Riley sit beside us. They're digging into their pancakes and bacon. I look down at my plate. I still have a pancake to go, but I don't feel to well. It looks so good though! Sitting there, coated in whipped butter and drizzled in maple syrup. I suppose I feel sick because I don't want to leave. It's just been clouding my mind lately.

"You okay?" Josh asks.

I sigh and pull a piece of hair back behind my ear.

"Yeah,' I say. 'I'm uh. . just not looking forward to leaving."

I rest my head on my arms. I hear Josh give a slight laugh.

"Do you ever feel like leaving?" I ask. Damn it. Stupid question.

He quickly shakes his head.

"Wouldn't leave for a million bucks."

I smile.

We sit there for about another ten minutes. Martha approaches us.

"Hello,' she smiles. 'After breakfast you and Josh can go up to the head office. Dr. Anthony wil be waiting there."

We got him last week, replacing that other weirdo. Glad she was fired. Wouldn't be surprised if she killed any of her patients. Josh was close to it. We just nod.
