Cassiopeia Wylie doesn't know much about horror or anything scary really, she chooses to ignore it. Of course, she has fears of her own, but she could never really figure out what it is. Cassiopeia revolves her life around keeping this picture-perfect image of herself, the girl with perfect grades, perfect hair, and the perfect life.
That's what's always been expected of her, which is why, since the fourth grade, she felt infatuated by Richie Tozier. He's everything she's told not to be and isn't. It made her wonder how he could do it all so easily, up to the way he speaks, and down to the way he acts. Which is odd to her, because she felt she needs to despise him. But instead, she spent her days in class sneaking glances at him and getting any chance to talk to him no matter how nervous she gets.
Cassiopeia tries her very hardest to hide her crush from the glasses eyed boy. That isn't the case for Richie, though his crush on the girl only started in the sixth grade, he flirts with her at any chance he gets. Which isn't much, due to their completely separate lives. Up until something dark, a shapeshifter comes upon to the town of Derry cursing the children who once had no care in the world.
But with that care in the world comes responsibility, to those who see the truth. Stanley Uris, Eddie Kaspbrak, Bill Denbrough, Richie Tozier, all come together as a happy group, to help defeat this evil being. Along the way they meet, Beverly Marsh, Ben Hanscom, Cassiopeia Wylie, and Mike Hanlon. The eight children get together to hopefully defeat IT.
But somehow the group still finds time to do their usual gimmicks, especially Richie who flirts with Cassiopeia. And somehow she doesn't notice his flirting and thinks he does this with all the girls. Thus she sticks to herself, facing her fear. Suddenly turning into the girl her mother never wanted to be. Cassiopeia Wylie learns to save herself.
