Can I Fall Back on You? (Karma Akabane x Reader)

•Chapter 26•

Before reading- A lot of this chapter is gonna be Karma talking to you, not you as in Y/n, the character in the book, but you as the reader, later on he'll refer to you as 'she' and 'her' like normal.

•Chapter 26- Don't Forget

Karma's POV
Y/n~neko, do you remember when the seasons were transitioning into winter during the fifth year of primary school? I'm sure you do, you seem to always remember things that some people might've forgotten.

"I'm off!" I called and closed the front door and locked it.

You suddenly had this new reaction to things, it wasn't a bad thing of course, you never did change and end up being bad to your true friends. And you never will change for the worst.

You were in a way... Scary. Even I was a bit- fine, I was pretty scared of you. And one day I couldn't stop myself from saying those words that made you so angry- and then sad almost immediately.

You're probably confused, right? Let me explain why you exploded at me that one day in fifth year...

"Hi Cherry, can we hang out after school?" I looked up from my desk to see you and Meiko. You had a finger pressed against my desk while Meiko was looking down. "I'm sorta busy today Y/n, sorry." I answered looking back down at my desk and getting ready for class to begin. "But last week you promised!" You removed your finger from off my desk but then you slammed your hand down.

"Something important came up, I really can't today!" I was then lifted out of my chair. "You. Promised." You hissed. I tried not to make eye contact with you but my eyes ended up wandering into your hurt ones. "Y/n! Put him down!" Meiko pleaded. I tried to apologize even with you nearly choking me. "I'm sorry but..." You dropped me back into my chair.

"Something urgent can't just come up! What if I-" I stood up and towered over you, yet you looked straight at me with confidence glistening in your e/c orbs. "Something urgent happened to come up today so Y/n..."

"Shut up."

Big mistake. I got stressed out for no reason and what came next really happened for no reason, in my opinion. I'm not mad at you though, it was kinda a long time ago after all. I can try to understand though.

Your cold fist came in contact with my head. You hit me so hard I fell backwards and out of my chair. You then neared my face speaking the word so crystal clearly I felt like everything and everyone froze besides you,"Problem."

It took me a while to understand what you meant, what problem? But then I realized it...

I covered my mouth and suddenly my eyes felt watery. "Y/n..!" As I said your name my first few tears started falling, before I knew it I cried an ocean.

"Karma, what's wrong?" Meiko finally asked. By now you were crying too. You helped me back up and you were on your knees with your arms wrapped around me and your head in my lap.

"I don't want that to happen again..! Y/n please, no! Not again!" I cried. "Please don't forget! Please! I-"

Everyone in that room had their eyes on us. Our teacher still hadn't arrived yet I remember. I was gonna say "I love you." But words didn't come out and were instead drowned in tears. The next thing that happened though... We were both surprised, but you probably didn't know how I was feeling.

I stood up and you let go of me. You stood up as well but looked down. I gently moved your head so you were looking back up and placed a soft kiss on your cheek. You looked up at me with a dumbfounded look on your face. It was really cute. It's always great seeing you make that face.

Meiko had went back to her desk and a bunch of 'oooosss' and 'ahhhhss' floated around the room. Your face was bright red and I reached out to cheek just because it looked so warm. You brushed my hand off your cheek, skidded to your desk and buried your face in your arms.

If you did forget me again I thought for some reason, doing what I did would result in you remembering me. That wasn't the case, what I did- well what I continue to believe I did- was keep her from forgetting anything in the first place. It's the easiest thing to believe, the only thing I wanted to believe.

"Good morning, Karma~kun." I was standing in front of the train station and Nagisa was in front of me. "Oh, hey Nagisa~kun!"

"The weekend went by too fast!" He exclaimed. "Yeah," I agreed. Y/n~neko stayed the weekend fully absorbed with her cats, I swear she was on the verge of crying last night when she had to leave.

Nagisa and I talked until the train had arrived and we boarded it. I made my way to find an empty seat when I heard Y/n~neko's being whispered.

"Do you know who L/n Y/n is?" I heard a girl asked. I sat at the empty seat behind them and Nagisa joined me. "In End class, right? Yeah, I know her Rangiku~chan." Rangiku? That name... Y/n~neko talked about her before. Basu Rangiku, wasn't it? "Yup, I'm talking about her, Sayaka~chan." What about Y/n~neko? A rumor? I'm not about to let that happen.

"Asano~kun is trying to get her to like him. He said he'd be making a little bet with her, she's so prideful in the heat of the moment he'll have her right in his trap. We just have to make sure we...." Their voices got too quiet and I was unable to hear them. Oh Asano, Y/n~neko is mine. She'll never be yours, and if I can help it... I'll make sure you never speak a word to her. Give it up.

Their voices got loud enough for me to hear them again. "That's gonna be difficult but if it isn't today.... We could use this to our advantage." The other girl, Kaname Sayaka, snickered. "Are you talking about the boys baseball game coming up?" Basu questioned. "Precisely~" Kaname replied.

"Nagisa~kun, do you have a water bottle or something?" I asked. "Yeah, why?" He replied. "You heard what those two said." A wicked smile appeared on Nagisa's face. Creepy. He dug in his bag and pulled out a water bottle and handed it to me. I took off the cap, threw my arm backwards, and enjoyed the two girls screaming. "They're about to look up." Nagisa whispered. I withdrew my arm.

There's a lot more coming your way you two, you should've been careful before discussing your ideas~

"Thanks Nagisa~kun." I said. "Yup!"

The train had arrived at our stop near the school and we got off of it. Before the two girls I spilled the water on got off the train, Nagisa and I raced in the direction of E-class.
