Jon looked at Ser Jaime and gestured a look of thanks and gratitude. 'Your grace, winter is here, let me, alongside you trusted advisors work together to draw plans to defeat the dead. It would be my honour & privilege to do so'.Jon looked at this knight, looked at his advisors and said - very well. We need to make haste. Show me what you have planned in the next few hours. Jaime nodded and dismissed himself. Jon turned to his queens most trusted advisor. Missandei, Can I speak with you please?
She stood and they both walked out of the great hall. Have you seen our queen? I have your grace. Jon stopped and looked at her... and? I'm not certain Jon, Sam is with her now. They exchanged looks of worry and excitement. Jon continued to walk on. Where are the dragons? I need to find Rhaegal. They're in the courtyard, at the entrance of Winterfell. Jon looked at her and put his hand on her shoulder. Thank you Missandei. Then continued to walk to the courtyard.
There was no snow, there was no water, you would have thought is was summer again, the dragons had melted everything away. He hardly recognised it. Drogon was gone, probably flying around watching for the army. Jon knew that his main purpose was to protect his mother. The mother of dragons. He saw Rhaegal, lying amongst the ash that he figured would have been a tree. He walked up to the dragon and realised his scales were as green as the grass, but his wings reflected the colour of a orange sunset.
Jon walked up to the dragon and their eyes met. Rhaegal looked at the king and stood in a stance very much like Drogon on the mountain tops of Dragonstone. The king took a deep breath and held his hand out to the beast, who did nothing but stare into his eyes. Jon' body filled with anxiousness as the dragon moved his head around his, smelling his scent and breathing on his body. Jon felt his warm breath on his neck which made every hair on his body stand.
Finally he allowed Jon to pet him and sat down in front if him. An instant wash of love flowed through his veins a feeling he could not explain. He then remembered Brans words. Rhaegal was born for you, he's yours.
Jon walked to the side of him and said - my name is Jon Snow, son of Eddard Stark, the warden of the north...as he said these words, Rhaegal looked at him, square in the eyes. Jon looked at the dragon, his eyes moved to his feet, then looked back at the beast.I am Aegon Targaryen, born to Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. Raised by her brother Eddard Stark, alongside his children, here in Winterfell.
Rhaegal bowed his head in front of Jon as if he knew exactly what he was saying. Saying those words out loud brought a sense of realisation and identity to Jon. He is a descendent of the last dragon. He can be and will be a Targaryen and a Stark. Jon lifted himself onto the back of his dragon and petted him, fly boy. In one motion and one move of his wings, Rhaegal was in the air, with his dragon rider on his back...
