Up, Up and Away

(Anna's POV)

The familiar whirring sound of the engine started and we were off down the runway, the jet picking up speed with every second. I looked across Alexa to peer out the small window.

"A – Alexa?"

Her eyes were clamped shut, her jaw set and her hands clenched in fists so tight her knuckles were white. She didn't respond.

"Alexa? Are you okay?"

One eye squeezed open. "Hmm? Oh, yes, I'm fine."

The plane was going so fast now I knew were seconds away from lift off. Alexa peered out the window with one eye just as the wheels left the ground. Her head snapped forward and her eyes shut once more. She then took to mumbling "I'm gonna die" over and over again like a mantra. I supressed a laugh and offered my hand. She took it and squeezed it so hard I feared it would pop.

"We're not going to die," I told her in what I hoped was a calming voice. "Do you know how many planes I've been on? More than I can count. And none have ever crashed. Don't worry, you're perfectly fine."

One eye popped open. Then the other. "Are you sure?"

"Positive."

Her grip loosened and she braved a look out the window. Her jaw was still set and I could tell she was holding her breath. After a second she let it all go and a smile appeared on her face.

"We're flying. We're actually flying!"

The three hour flight passed by quick enough. I spent the time laughing at Alexa's clear dismay of being so many miles above ground.

Her hand clamped around mine and her eyes squeezed shut again when we landed.

Alex stared around the LA airport as we made our way out to the front to hail a cab. I told the driver my address and fifteen minutes later, we were pulling up in front of my house. Alexa practically jumped out of the car with an expression of awe evident all over her face.

"Jesus..." I heard her mutter. I smiled and paid the driver. From next door I heard the familiar bark of Golden Retriever, Spinee. Well – technically – he's my neighbours but he's over at mine so often, we practically share him. I wheeled my suitcase up the drive, quickly followed by Alexa, her expression remaining. I grinned again and unlocked the door.

A/N: I know this chapter is short and poorly written but I am currently suffering the inevitable struggle of writer's block. I promise the next will be packed with detail :)

I know that Anna Kendrick probably doesn't have a dog but just for the sake of this story, let's say she does. Also I know that she is currently dating Ben Richardson but I'm thinking I might make her and Zac Efron a thing...thoughts? I also that the timing is a little unbalanced, as this is set in March of 2017, where I'm pretty sure she's filming Pitch Perfect 3 at the time in real life. But, again, for the sake of the story, let's say she just finished filming and is now home.

I also want to say a big thank you to Demonsagafan1 for being my number 1 supporter haha (my only supporter). It might not mean much but your immediate votes and comments really mean a lot  and strive me to keep writing. So thank you :)
