Surprise. Quarantine's really doing my head in so why not update a couple of my old stories?

(Alexa's POV)

The next morning, as I headed downstairs, I was greeted by Anna humming along to a song in the kitchen with her baggy, plaid pyjama shirt, the welcoming smell of banana pancakes wafting its way through the house.

"Mmm," I breathed in the smell and helped myself to a glass of orange juice. She winked and increased the volume of her humming. It was then I recognised which tune she was singing to. It was the final song from the movie Grease. "Seriously?" I lifted an eyebrow.

She shrugged. "There was an ad on this morning. Got stuck in my head."

I only laughed and joined in.

"Okay, that's it," she said. "When you come home from school we're having a movie musical marathon." She flipped a few pancakes onto my plate.

"Sounds good," I returned with a grin, taking a bite out of the first pancake. We sat and ate for a while until Anna excuse herself to take a shower. Instead of going upstairs to take my own shower and get ready for school like I should've, I stayed down and scrolled through Twitter. The first thing to appear on my feed, funnily enough, was an article with the title: ANNA KENDRICK: SETTLED AT LAST? I rolled my eyes at the picture of Anna and I at our local Gelson's and proceeded to read the byline:

Spotted at Gelson's Market on Hyperion Ave yesterday afternoon, Acadamy Award Nominee Anna Kendrick went out for some afternoon grocery shopping with a young girl of about ten or eleven – I rolled my eyes – once again. Just a young relative? Or has Kendrick become Hollywood's new celebrity mother?

I scoffed and switched off my phone. I'd been living here and walking out and about with Anna long enough for the paps to get a few photographs. Anna hadn't actually come out and addressed these adoption rumours just yet. I didn't really mind now; I was getting used to the publicity. It was definitely very strange, however, the first time someone came up to Anna for an autograph about three days after I moved in. We were out at Home Depo when a young woman stopped us at the checkout. Her eyes were wide and she stuttered a bit but eventually managed to choke out how amazing she thought Anna was. Anna was perfectly polite and agreed to take a photo, though as soon as the woman left, she looked at me and I could tell she was embarrassed. A few days later she'd confided in me how she felt weird being recognised when she was with me. Things like that have happened many more times since then and to a few of the younger, calmer people like that woman, she would introduce me as her daughter. Though most often when she was asked who I was she didn't say anything. Most of these people had a camera in her face so I could understand why she didn't want to talk.

I heard the water upstairs cease running and I went to my own bathroom to get ready for school. We received a few more double takes and stares today when Anna dropped me off. A few of the younger looking ones didn't even pretend they weren't watching intently. I smiled as Anna waved to a few of them before driving off. I passed a group of older girls on my way into the school. Most of them averted their gazes once I caught them. One of them, however, continued staring, wide-eyed until one of her friends hit her shoulder and told her to stop being a creep.

"But dude," she finally turned around. "You do realise whose car she just came out of, right?"

I chuckled, knowing that if roles were reversed I would probably stare too.

I met Sera by my locker. She clasped onto my arm once she saw me and dragged me into our empty classroom.

"We're going to the movies after school. The new Gyllenhaal movie is out and we have to see it."
