The first official Chapter. Now I'll go into more details about the different types of Chosen Ones and Prophecies in different chapters because there are a few, but this is the in general chapter. There will be a lot of chapters like this..okay moving on.

So this is a trope that mostly showed up in really old stories. I'm talking Greek mythology, some Bible stories, Celtic myths, the traditional stories...Moana. And there's nothing wrong with it, but when it's the main focus of something, then it's a little much.

So let me know if this sounds familiar: There is a prophecy that calls for a Chosen who will either bring up the civilization or cause it to fall. Like the Hero of the story is most likely a normal person ( age ranging from 12-18), some event happens, some sort of priest is involved, picks the Hero out and they are all like "The Prophecy"( Bonus Points if the words 'chosen one' is mentioned), which is very unclear, death happens and "The Prophecy " has been fulfilled. And it's always a quest. Why can't the Chosen One be runaway because they are about to sacrificed to the gods. Why is the Hero always the Chosen one, and not the villain of the story? How come the Chosen One get cool weapons and armor, or artifact and is the only one who can use them because they won't work for anyone else? Do you how funny for funny it will be for the Hero to get this sword that only he can use, the the villain picks it up no problem and tries to kill the Hero. All while wearing an 'eat shit' grin

And why are prophecies so confusing?Like in the Lord of The Rings, the Witch King said that no man could kill him, and lo and behold a halfling( or hobbit) and a woman kills him....oh yeah SPOILER ALERT.  For some context the final battles for the War for the Ring is being fought. Eowyn, the woman, is told to stay with the other women and Pippin( who a hobbit) they both sneak into the ranks and almost get killed a few times and then kill the bad guy. That's just one example. Another is Shakespeare's Macbeth  there is this prophecy that and to quote,"Don't be afraid, Macbeth. No man born from a woman will ever defeat you."Macbeth get's all vain and is like "I'm invincible" And lo and behold, he gets killed by the guy born via C-section.

They say one thing, but it leaves people utterly confused. And the two examples I listed are like this. The Witch King said no man, that could have been the race of Men, leaving the Dwarves and Elves and any other race. Like the Hero is told,"One shall fall by blood's hand." them and their travel deduce it wouldn't be the only orphan in the group because they have no living relatives, but the Hero does have a mom, a few cousins, and an Uncle, and the other one only have their father. And what happens...no the Chosen One isn't killed, but the orphan is because, plot twist, the villain is a sibling of one of their parents.

No one is allowed to steal that, that is my idea.

And that's my take on this overused trope.
