I walked over to the Curtis house knocking this time.

Darry opened the door and looked at me stun, but I did the same towards him.

Not because he looked great but the exact opposite.

He wasn't dressed up at all really.

Just his same black T-shirt with jeans...

He smiled and said, "Wow, you really overdid it."

I smiled back confused at what was happening.

He yelled looking back, "Come on guys were going to the Dingo."

I asked in confusion, "Guys?"

All the gang members came out of the house greeting me and telling me I looked nice.

So, when he told me he wanted to "hang out" with me he actually meant hang out.

And he brought his gang members...Okay I can do this.

Darry and me stayed behind the gang talking even though I was really embarrassed and completely overdressed.

He said, "So, you excited?"

I shrugged and said, "Depends on their food."

He smiled and replied, "They have good food just order a hamburger fries and a milkshake."

I asked him, "How much does that cost?"

He shrugged and said, "Around maybe two dollars."

I looked through my purse to see I only had fifty cents.

I lied, "You know what I might just get a milkshake I'm not that hungry anyways."

He said, "Well, it's up to you this place is really good."

I nodded my head and decided not to say anything else.

When we arrived at the Dingo, I didn't see a lot of people in there.

Just a few old people in a booth and five teenagers at a table.

We decided to sit in the high chairs and order.

Darry and Dally both sat on each side of me and I honestly felt protected.

When the waitress came over, she instantly smiled and said, "Hi, Darry."

He smiled back at her and said, "Oh, hey Beth."

Her cheeks turned red when saying, "Haven't seen you in awhile."

He nodded and said, "Well you know how it is just been busy working."

She nodded her head and said, "Yeah, I wish I could help."

He then replied, "Well, we are hungry right now. Maybe you can help us with that."

She then asked, "Is it the usual?"

He looked around at the gang as they all were saying yes.

Finally, she noticed me.

"Oh, I didn't even see you there. My name's Elizabeth."

I asked, "Elizabeth, but they just called you Beth."

She shrugged and said, "That's my nickname - Beth."

Wonder why I don't have a nickname...

She asked towards me, "So, what can I get you."

I mumbled, "Just a milkshake."

She turned around and walked off getting our order ready.

I asked Darry, "So, how do you know Beth?"
