Sam was breathing heavily, unable to focus his vision as Ashleigh carefully wiped the blood from nose. She turned her head towards Cas with worried eyes "do we have enough yet...?" He was silent as he glanced into the library for a moment before slowly pulling the needle out "Hold on.. This may pinch." Sam groaned softly before looking up at him "Cad, what the hell?" The angel laid his hand against his forehead, Sams body tensing up in response as he was healed. Ashleigh took a step back as Sam gasped, quickly sitting up in a panic "Cas. What the hell was that?!"

"I've healed your wounds completely."

"And the grace?"

"Please don't tell me he went through all of that for nothing.." Ashleigh mumbled softly, looking between the two.

"Well, whatever grace was inside you is gone now. What's left of Gadreel is in here." He placed the syringe back in its box. "We'll just have to try the spell with what we have."

"Damn it" Sam sighed, shaking his head.

"Sam, I want Gadreel to pay as much as you do. But nothing is with losing you. You know, being human, it didn't just change my view of food. It changed my view of you. I mean, I can relate now, to how you feel."

"What are you talking about?" Sam lifted an eyebrow as Ashleigh looked up at the angel.

"The only person who has screwed things up more consistently than you.. is me. And now I know what that guilt feels like. And I know what it... I know what it means to feel sorry, Sam. I am sorry."

"I know." Sam nodded slightly, averting his gaze.

"You know, old me...I would've just kept going.I would have jammed that needle in deeper until you died because the ends always justified the means. But I went through... Well, that PB&J taught me that angels can change, so... " Sam turned his head, looking up at the angel as Ashleigh pulled her hair up into a ponytail, sighing softly. "This is all super sweet and nice, but we should probably get to work." Castiel smiled lightly as he grabbed the box that held the syringe full of grace. "Lets get to work." He walked out of the room as Ashleigh followed closely behind. Sam watched the two of them as he let out a breath, watching the woman quietly. A small smile slowly appeared on his lips before he stood and followed after the two of them.

"Gone? What do you mean 'gone'? How?" Crowley demanded, him and Dean watching Cain expectantly. "The spell brought us here to you, so it has to be here."

"Your spell brought you to the source of the blade's power. Me." He lifted his sleeve to show a red mark as Crowley took a step back, blessing himself quietly.

"Really? Now?" Dean asked with a sigh. "Its the bloody mark of Cain"

"From Lucifer himself." Cain stated, running his thumb along the raised skin. "The mark and the blade work together. Without the mark, the blade is useless. Its just an old bone."

"A bone?" Crowley questioned the man.

"The jawbone of an animal. The jawbone you used to kill Abel because he was God's favorite." Dean looked up at the Father of Murder, lifting an eyebrow.

"Abel wasn't talking to God. He was talking to Lucifier. Lucifer was gonna make my brother into his pet. I couldn't bear to watch him be corrupted, so I offered a deal... Abel's soul in heaven for my soul in hell. Lucifer accepted. As long as I was the ine who sent Abel to heaven. So I killed him. Became a soldier of hell.... A knight."
