Requiem for a Tree

131 28 11

Noble in stature
Brimming with power
The epitome of a peaceful life
You always find tranquility
Within silent storms of strife

Reaching branches praying to the sky
Grabbing roots embrace the earth
You are what sustains us,
But we are blind
We do not see your true worth

A silver blade sweeps through the darkness
Metal on wood a deadly chime
The death of a tree takes only a moment,
But the echoes reach
Past the ends of time
But the echoes follow you
Beyond the ends of time.
