I sat in a leather chair similar to the one I was fired in, I knew this interview was going to be awful no matter how qualified I was. I sat there trembling, my heart was racing I needed a job and this was perfect. Perfect pay, perfect location, perfect opportunities but it wouldn't get any of these perks since this man hated me already for calling him an asshole. But who could blame me I just wanted to get here early, Maybe he might think I'm just overzealous.

The door slammed behind me and I jolted from the sudden sound, he walked over to his desk. His steps were heavy as he walked, with every step I turned my eyes up to his cruel face. He lowered himself to the leather chair on the other side of the table, he leaned back into the comfy seat locking his fingers looking dead in the face. I could feel the beads of sweat feathering my brow. I was so intimidated by this man and he hasn't said a word, he leaned forward resting his elbows on the table and I felt like I was drowning. I was literally shaking,

"Good Morning Miss. Bennett" he said with hostility in his voice, he wasn't even hiding it,

"Hello Mr.Edwards" I whispered, his face remained neutral as he glared at me,

"Well, I've read your resume and it's quite impressive but" he paused as a devilish grin tugged at the corner of his lips, "Let's talk about you",

"About me?" I questioned not sure where he was going with this, I was just trying not to piss him off anymore, I felt like me talking would upset him. His face was a permanent scowl,

"Yes, I want to know who is Nylah Bennett, whats your passion what makes you-you?" he asked and for a moment I felt like he was actually interested in what I had to say then I saw a glint of mischief in his eyes.

I took a deep breath before I spoke, I knew I wasn't getting this job but I cant sit here and let the pompous old omniobous fart scare me, "Well I have a strong personality" I sat up in my chair, "I don't scare easily, I might get intimiated but I won't be afraid of anything or anyone, and that makes me better than the average employee" I cocked my head to a side as I returned his death stare, his brows shot up and I knew he wasn't expecting that. We were about to play a nice game of arrogance and I was going to win.

"Is that so Nylah?"

"I believe you mean Miss.Bennett"

"Yes, Miss.Bennett, why should we hire you?"

"I know you're just asking that question because you have to, you have zero intentions of hiring me" he chuckled at my statement,

"I cant hire someone like you, you're uncouth, and clearly not suited for this business," he said standing, as he began to pace, "You think I would hire someone who behaves in such a manner over a little traffic? You just have a poor work ethic and easily agitated" he paced with his hands behind his back and I rolled my eyes,

"Look" I said shoving my chair back bringing his pacing to a pause as he glanced over his shoulder at me, "You may not like me for my little attitude at times but if its one thing youre not going to find another person with my credintials, you could try but there isn't anyone who is dedicated enough to work for you, especially with you stopping the good employees get away because you cant handle being called an asshole" he was about to say something but I put my finger up shutting him up quickly, "I know you aren't the boss and I will be calling in tomorrow and have a chat with your superior" I said grabbing my bag and walking through the door confidently.

A slender man stood outside the door,

"Are you Miss.Bennett?" he smiled,

"Yes I am"

"I'm so glad you decided to join us"

"Join you?" I chuckled, "I wouldn't work here if this was the last job on earth" I walked away,

"Kennedy! I thought I told you to hire her!" I heard the man arguing with Mr.Edwards but I just shook my head.

I craned my neck back with my eyes closed as I thought about my day from the couch, today was awful. I wanted that job, but it wasn't worth working under that Mr.Edwards, I reminded me of Randy, he would probably dump all the work on me and I wouldn't get the recognition I deserved.'

The muffled vibration of my phone of the couch next to me got my attention, I grabbed it with my eyes still closed,

"Hello" I groaned, talking felt like it required too much energy,

"Hey baby"

"Oh hi mum"

"You alright? Why you sound like you under a bed?"

"I'm just tired," I said trying to sound normal,

"Oh working late?" she asked quickly and I almost said I was home,

"Yea got some papers to go over before I leave" I cringed as I lied,

"Well I just wanted to call and tell you I had to move the party to this weekend because Adam is going on a business trip and I wanted him to meet you before he goes"

"WHAT!" I sat up as my eyes darted around the room, I couldn't believe what I was hearing,

"Yes, the party is Sunday"

"Mum! It's Thursday! I'm not prepared for this" And I don't have a job I thought,

"O honey you have a few days, just finish up your work and go and buy a nice dress" I could hear her smile. She really was playing with my emotions, I didn't even get close to finding a job and then she just moves the party!

"I'll see what I could do"

"I'll see you soon and bring a bottle of wine or something," she said quickly before hanging up.

I felt so defeated, I promised I'd tell her at the party, but that was when I had 2 months to find a job, now its 3 days away.

"I'm definitely not telling her," I said to the emptiness of my home as I looked at the picture which was in my office.
