10 | True Face

"YOU, MY DEAR, are very useful to the heavens."  She says, eyeing me carefully with her violet eyes. The gentle tone she is currently using could soothe anyone else more than thousand hugs.

Listen up, amateurs. When someone's kind to you, they want something.

"I am?" I ask, my hands caressing her pearly white wings as we both sit on the dewy grass, watching as the other angels played and teased with each other. The giggles and laughter of the angels in the background doesn't affect our conversation, because now, it's just me and her talking. I take a glance at the sunset illuminating the horizon, and there's a certain orange glow on the sky. Somehow, beautiful scenery always cures my boredom. It's such a sight to see.

"Yes." She answers promptly, giving off a warm smile. But the smile doesn't reach her eyes, and from that moment, my suspicions are confirmed.

"You want something from me, don't you?" I state, monotone as ever.

For a second, her eyes twitch. The environment around us fades away slowly like a memory facading. The dewy grass I was sitting on disappears, much to my disappointment. The grass was pretty and nice to sit on.

I look around and I'm suddenly in a chilly dark place, no walls, no doors. It's just black everywhere. I look up at the angel with a questioning glance.

She grabs me by the neck with painful force, and roars erupt from her. No limbs, no face, no more human vessel. It's all just her true form staring me down with her huge wings. Her true form was enough to make me scared out of my wits. But the wings aren't the pearly white colour I've grown to love anymore. They're already slightly tainted with black. Tainted wings.

"You're right, I do want something from you." She snarled, holding me up  with her sharp claws, digging into my fleshy skin. Warm, thick blood drips down my neck. "God has a path readily laid out just for you the very day you were born. How about you come with me and we shall both be showered with recognition and fame?"

"I'll pass, thanks."

I wiggle out of her grip, but her hold on me tightens and tears my skin even more. With her blood-curling scream, she releases her clutch on me, and harshly hurls me away from her. "That's it! I had enough of you!! What a waste of gift, Clarissa~ you're clearly choosing the wrong path to walk in."

"Suits me fine ."

Her high pitched cackling vibrates in my ears. "You stupid little girl! I pity you. You're just too oblivious! A lot more creatures would want to get a hold of you. When Crowley finds out there's another useful chess piece to God's army, he'd do anything to make you his. You do know him, right?"

"Of course, he killed my mom and dad." I bit my lip, refusing to let out the sudden sob that bubbled in my throat.

"Exactly." She chirps. Slowly, she returns back to her human form. The blinding light she emits slowly fades away and I watch as her frightening claws retract back into her hand, turning into slender, petite fingers. Her fair skin complimenting her rosy, luscious lips and violet eyes. Her sleek black hair is now pushed aside to her shoulder, as she offers a graceful smile. "I'll be seeing you soon. Good chat, Clarissa."
