Alex's POV:

"How many times do I have to say it", I groan, "you can't tell the police, okay?" I look at all of my friends straight in the eye. We're still in the living room and even though it feels like I told them about Nick hours ago, it's only been a few minutes.

They keep talking about how I have to tell the police and my parents but I continuously shake my head and say no, because I don't want to risk anyone getting hurt. It's already bad enough that they know about him but truth to be told, I'm kinda glad they do because that means I now don't have to bear it all myself.

"Fine", Lindsey finally gives in, "but if you get kidnapped by that psycho again or if he even touches you in any way, I will tell them."

"No", I snap, "you promised, Lindsey. No one will tell them, no matter what happens. Remember, you do not utter a single word about this to anyone unless I tell you to and I don't." Lindsey gives me her pleading puppy eyes, trying to convince me to take my words back, the same as all of them have tried in the last few minutes, but I won't budge. They will keep their promise, I'm almost sure of it, but I understand that they are trying to get me to think twice and make Nick's returning official instead of keeping it a secret, but the fear of someone getting hurt keeps me in place.

"You know what?" I suddenly speak up, talking to everyone, "let's talk about something else, okay? I can't stand to think about him right now so let's just change the subject or watch a movie or whatever."

Lindsey seems to be slightly worried and disappointed, thinking that speaking about it will make me feel better, which I know it won't, Patricia nods slowly and Parker gives me a weak smile.

"So", he says casually, "what do you want to talk about?"

"What about th-" Patricia starts to say but gets interrupted by the sound of the front door suddenly burst open and I jump up from my seat as we hear it slamming shut with great force. My eyes widen when I understand that neither Martha nor Roland would close it that harshly, and we all exchange confused and slightly worried looks. The sound of stomping footsteps reaches our ears and it feels like all of us are hold our breaths as we gather together in the middle of the room, not having anywhere to go, standing so close that our shoulders are touching one and another's. My heart pounds hard in my chest and suddenly, Nick appears in the opening to the room.

"You", he shouts and runs towards me, his face red with anger. All color drains from my own face as I stare at him in fear and before I have time to comprehend what is happening, I'm pushed up against the wall and feel something cold being pressed against my temple.

The shouting from my friends reaches my ear and it's not until now I slip out from the shock and separate my lips and let out a high-pitched scream.

"Shut the fuck up", Nick shouts and press the cold metal of a gun even harder against my temple and a whimper escapes my lips.

"I told you", he says with his voice dripping of hate, "to not tell anyone about it, you little bitch!" I take a deep breath in an attempt to calm myself down but before I have time to say something, Parker's voice sounds through the room.

"Hey, don't call her that, you dick!" he shouts and I turn my face towards him, trying my best to ignore the gun against my head.

"What did you just call me?" Nick says in controlled anger, turning his attention towards my friend as well.

"Nick..." I whisper, "leave him alone, please." He ignores me and motions for Parker to keep going.

"What did you just fucking call me, huh?"
