This is a though I had: What if instead of trying to escape the hood, people tried to make the hood a place you don't want to escape?
I don't mean gentrify the hood and drive all the poor people out, I mean try to make it a better and safer place. Encourage kids to stay in school and build community centers. Don't drive out the small business owners.
