Estrella jolted awake with a nauseating feeling rushing up to her mouth. She jumped out of bed, running towards the bathroom before she puked on herself or the floor. Recently, she's been getting sick more often than usual and it was miserable. Keeping anything down was impossible somedays. She flushed, brushed her teeth until the taste was completely gone. Estrella knew today would be miserable and she wanted to crawl back into bed, but she had to get ready for work. The sun was rising and the digital clock read 7:52. She opened the fridge, grabbing; eggs, cheddar cheese and tomatoes. Daily, Estrella would make an omelet. Before she started cooking, she turned on the News for background noise.
"Wow, you humans are so dull," Estrella froze, laying down the spatula before twirling around to face the unwelcomed visitor. It was a female dressed in a crimson red leather bodysuit and six-inch heels. Her hair was extremely short and spiked. Her entire appearance screamed demon. "I wasn't expecting you to be so..." the demon paused and Estrella folded her arms. "swelled up like a balloon."
"My apologies, being five months pregnant with Lucifer's daughter would make someone swell up like a balloon!"
The demon clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth.
"Abaddon was correct about you. You are feisty," she stepped forward and took a whiff of the cooking omelet. It smelled disgusting. "I am Jazzmyn or Jazz."
"Alright, I assume you're here for a reason?" Estrella spats.
She was frustrated; for months demons, hellhounds and even Lucifer vanished and now they're slowly returning?
"I am, Abaddon sent me to fetch you."
"Excuse me?"
"Oh, did that offend you?" Jazzmyn asked. "I don't want to rush you because you're human but you need to come with me. Immediately."
"Why am I needed so badly?" Estrella asked. "and stop addressing me as human!"
She picked up the spatula, returning to cooking. Jazzmyn growled, gripping Estrella's wrist only to let go immediately after. Her palm was burning.
"What, do you have a magical force-field around you?" she snickered. Estrella pretended not to her hear. Jazzmyn gripped the frying pan, tossing it into the sink. "Lucifer needs you!"
"And I needed him but he's been gone since December!" Estrella shouted. "but of course, if he needs me, I am expected to run to him like a good girl, right?""I don't care, you can talk to him about that when you see him. Now, as I said, you're coming with me willingly or not. I do recommend you come willingly!"
Maybe something was seriously wrong, why else would Abaddon want her to come to the underworld? She chewed on her bottom lip. She can be angry later.
"Fine, give me a moment."
Estrella turned off the stove's eyes before bundling herself up in the warmest clothes possible. She felt ten times heavier, not including her belly, but at least she would not freeze. Jazzmyn was impatient, the concerned look on her face she tried to hide made Estrella begin to worry. When they walked through the portal they appeared in a hallway where demons and Archangels stood in complete and utter silence. Estrella glanced around, realizing this hallway looked familiar, then she spotted the doors. Lucifer's bedroom doors.
"Go on." Jazzmyn demanded.
Estrella was frightened. What was on the other side of those doors? Why were they all standing outside? She gripped the door knobs, breathing deeply, then pushed. Abaddon stood by Lucifer's bed; staring down at him, when Estrella walked in. He looked at her, giving a sly grin. Lucifer laid in bed, his eyes closed. From where Estrella stood, he looked near death. She was frozen, tears glistening in her eyes.
