Finn Shelby [8] Part I

Y/N's POV -

"Whiskey?" Harry questions me as I approach the bar. I shake my head in response, politely declining.

"Well that's a new one! If you're looking for a Mr Shelby, they're in the side room, all five of them" Harry continues.

"Could you just fetch Finn for me? I'd rather only speak to him at the moment" I request nervously while bouncing slightly on the balls of my feet.

Harry nods and begins heading towards the hatch.

"Thank you"

"Mr Shelby, Y/N needs to speak to you, I'd say it's quite important with the way she's fretting"

Harry closes the hatch quietly before turning back to serve a customer and seconds later Finn comes hastily out from the side room.

"Y/N? Are you alright?" He questions quickly while his eyes do a quick check for any injuries.

I nod but then shake my head.

"Kind of- not really, can we go somewhere quieter" I question him as a nearby group of regulars let out a drunken roar as one of their group passes out and falls from his bar stool, crashing to the ground sending several glasses down with him.

Finn nods and takes my hand, leading me outside into the quiet, dark streets.

We make haste and arrive at the betting shop, Finn quickly unlocks the door and let's me in before switching on a light and turning to face me.

"Better? Now what's wrong?" He questions me, worry lacing his tone.

"Uh, well. It's nothing bad- well it might be it depends whether you think so or not" I rush out, stuttering several times.

Finn slowly takes a step towards me and takes my hands in his.

"Y/N, are you pregnant?" He questions me, one eyebrow raised slightly.

My jaw drops and I stare at him wide eyed.

"How the fuck did you know that?" I gasp in disbelief.

"Guessed. I had it confirmed by Aunt Pol though, I recognised the signs from Ada" he adds with a grin.

Suddenly all feeling of nervousness disappears and I can't help the smile that spreads across my face, I turn my face away slightly as I try to gain control of my emotions.

"Alright then, Doctor Finn. Are you happy?" I question him as I look back and lock gazes with him.

He nods rapidly.

"Of course I am! Are you?" He asks. I nod in agreement.

"Well then, why don't we get back to the Garrison and tell the others?" Finn waits for me to nod before grabbing my hand and leading me out the door back to the Garrison.

-Time Skip because who wants to know about walking up a street-

We step back into the warm interior of the pub, Harry nods in acknowledgement as we weave our way through the drunken crowd to the side room.

"Finn! You're finally back!" Arthur exclaims drunkenly from his place beside John who as always, was chewing on his tooth pick.

"Y/N and I have something to tell you" Finn begins in a confident voice. I glance around the room as I feel the nerves resurface and find myself locking gazes with Polly who offers me a reassuring smile and a wink.

She definitely knows.

"Y/N is pregnant" Finn announces to the family.

And to my complete horror, they all remain dead silent. No one moves or appears to even breath. While Arthur appears to have become fully sober.

And then all of a sudden the whole room erupts into one explosive cheer. John and Arthur launch out of their seats and pull Finn into a rough hug while I'm surrounded by Ada, Michael and Polly. Tommy just watches with a small, amused smile on his lips while waiting for his turn to congratulate us separately once the rest of the family have calmed down.

Finally, once all the congratulations and bone crushing hugs have finished we all settle down together with the comforting news that a new member of the Shelby family is on its way.

Apologies that this is short and I'm aiming for part 2 to be a bit longer, and hopefully more interesting or to word it better, emotional.
