Dancing in Drama

This one is very long and less about dance and more about the girls and drama!

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday pass quickly, and now we are just rehearsing our dances over and over again. Abby decides to show everyone what we've done so far.

We start off with the group dance, and other than Abby shouting at Jojo to point her toes and Nia and Brynn to have more dramatic facials, it goes almost perfectly.

Maddie, Jojo and Kalani rehearse their trio called Sassy Socks. It's about growing up, with Jojo pretending to be a child still and Maddie and Kalani as pre-teens, but suddenly they all decide to grow up and the dance is really fast and sassy. I love the flow of it and the way they portray their characters.

"That was amazing," I whisper to Maddie as she sits down next to me. We started the week off tense, but we are friends now since Abby pushed us to go out to the mall together and we had a really fun time, especially shopping and when we both got cream on our noses from the milkshakes and tried licking it off with our tongues.

"Thanks," She whispers back hugging me, the cameras recording everything. "You have no idea how much that means to me."

We watch Elliana and Mackenzie's balletic Perfect isn't Perfection piece and then Kendall and Lilly's lyrical contemporary piece Little Me. It's adorable as Lilly impersonates Kendall and funny to watch their different personalities and dance styles clash.

Brynn and I go up to perform our piece One Breathing, Other Heaving. At the end of the song everyone claps. I sit back down and Maddie hugs me with tears in her eyes.

"It's not even competition yet and I'm almost crying. I'm being serious Aurelia, I could really feel the connection between you two in that piece."

Since Monday, I've been a lot closer to Maddie, Kenzie and Brynn. I hang out with them a lot, but I also like Kalani and Kendall, and I feel like Nia is under appreciated. The two Minis are adorable and it's impossible for me to get annoyed with them. However, sometimes I find Jojo very loud and obnoxious, but she is nice and bubbly all the time.

After everyone else has performed their solos, it is my turn again to go up. I start off stage and go straight into my roundoff back handspring whip whip double back handspring double full, which leaves them all gasping. I smirk and do a sassy heel flick before rolling to the ground and sprawling like a spider, reaching out. I love all the contortion tricks in my piece, and I am sure I spend half of it on my hands with my legs by my head.

"Abby." It's eleven thirty and we are all half way through our acro class. Jill and Jess appear at the door of the studio.

"Abby," Jess repeats. "Jill and I don't think it's fair that Kalani gets to have a solo, be in the trio and be the lead of the group dance when Kendall only gets to be in a duet with a mini and Jojo has only a tiny part in the trio."

Abby rolls her eyes. "We've already gone over this Jess. Kalani deserves the part because she works harder than  your children, maybe if Jojo improves she'll get a solo next week. In fact, to shut you two up, if both your children win this week then they can both have a solo next week. " Abby shouts, but the moms aren't buying it.

"Kalani isn't better than our kids, just because she's older that doesn't make her better," Jill screams back.

Kira walks through the door to join the arguement. "Don't you dare diss on my kid just to make yours feel better." She says monotonously.

"We are not dissing on your kid," Jess bites back.

Melissa walks through the door too. "Abby," She says quietly. "I feel like Maddie has been left out a bit this week and you're letting the two new girls overshadow her talent. I think that Maddie should've got the solo and not Amy and that she should've been in the duet with Brynn because it's perfect for her dancing style." Melissa is jealous, and it's obvious to everyone that she doesn't like Maddie not being the favourite.
